When I went to IN to check my credit card, my "profile" and my "wallet" pages were both blank. The only option I was presented with was "create new". At least you have a profile. <ha ha>

I'm glad that IN will show more events live this year. And I'm hoping that there will be lots of online coverage of the olympics like there was last summer for the summer olympics. And, I've used that Firefox add on to ungeoblock stuff and it only sort of works. It freezes a lot.

Universal Sports is NOT an NBC network and they did not air any 2012 Olympics coverage. US is a partnership with NBC Sports - they inked a deal to use the NBC branding years ago but that's all.

NBC streamed every hour of every event live from London and it is available to anyone with any cable package that is subscribed to a tier that included MSNBC. They will do the same for Sochi.

For high profile events in London while they showed a live stream on PCs and mobile devices but they did not release the archive for on demand viewing until after the primetime broadcast. For London this was mostly gymnastics, diving, swimming, track and field. The vast majority of events were immediately archived for on demand viewing.

For Sochi my understanding it that it will be the same and I would assume figure skating will be one of those premium events that will not be archived until after the prime time broadcast. But if you are available in the morning/afternoons to watch it live, you will be able to stream every minute of skating live. Yes, every minute! :cheer2:

In regard to IN - I've been a longtime subscriber and it's a fabulous service. The stream has always been high quality and reliable, along with the archives. Last year was not their fault they couldn't show the same number of events. Universal Sports owned the rights and refused to negotiate with IN as part of their tactic to become an exclusive distributor of Olympic events and add leverage to their negotiations with cable, satellite and fiber TV providers. The agreement between the ISU and US ended last year and the ISU and USFS negotiated a new deal that would allow rights for as much streaming as possible on IN again.

Universal Sports has been hard balling the MSO and DBS operators, which is why it is has only available with limited distribution (sports tiers of Direct and Dish and small providers) and you haven't seen deals inked with many of the big cable companies. They did finally ink with TWC so perhaps they are finally breaking in their negotiations.

Does anyone know if their cable agreement will include Bright House Networks?
I've been "lobbying" for years.

And I can tell you that that type of pull marketing tactic is not effective. It's net negative on both the provider and programmer, but it does result in making the providers look bad which is the goal. ;)

Why all the griping about IN not showing the Olympics? Just be glad that the GP series is going to be shown live again after last year. In fact we are getting more for the buck then ever before. They are showing 4CC which they never did in the past except for 2012 and Worlds is included in the package unlike 2011 and 2012 when we had to pay extra later on in the season to watch.

They were strict during London 2012 - you had to already be a cable or satellite subscriber to access NBC's online content. You could get a 4 hour (maybe 6hr, I can't recall right now) free pass to watch, but beyond that involved using different emails, browsers and ultimately computers to circumvent and watch.

I am very glad that we're getting more than we did last year. :)

I think the questions are mainly because people are hoping for live coverage, which we won't have in the US. The very real concern is that it'll be London 2012 all over again....only worse, now it'll be showing events 8-9 hours after they've happened and the results will be all over the internet and practically impossible to avoid. I can hear Brian Williams on NBC Nightly News already....warning us to look away as he gives the results for the events that won't be shown for at least an hour and a half after his broadcast ends. :-/

Yes you will! Online and on mobile. As long as you have cable subscription credentials you can stream every minute LIVE from Russia. Comcast even auto-authenticated if you were in home on a Comcast ISP. I would anticipate more MSOs working on this type of technology and collaborating with NBC by Sochi to have it implemented.

At least he's warning you. I've met Brian Williams through my line of work. He's a nice guy. He won't be offended if you mute him and look away. :)

I live on the west coast in the US and it didn't matter that Vancouver was in the same time zone NBC still tape delayed most of the best events for prime time so Russia being 11 hours ahead here won't really matter. I will need to stay off the internet more so i don't see the spoilers.

Do we know for sure that NBC will offer to show the Olympics live on the internet again for those people who get TV through a cable company? I didn't sign up until the second week in London but it was great to actually watch the Olympics live for once. I got to watch all the big events in track and field live. :)

Wait ... you mean they would stream LIVE the entire skating as it happens INCLUDING the "Top Dogs" NBC intends on showing during the prime-time broadcast? I never bothered checking out the live stream stuff during 2012 O's because I figured they would block anything they intended to show during prime time broadcast anyway. I just stayed off the internet to avoid results.

Yes, they showed everything....I was able to watch a few of the gymnastics events live with a free 4 hour pass that was available to non-cable subscribers.

I just got an email from Ice Network telling me my credit card had been charged for my subscription. Now if only my Skate America tickets would come.

So excited to get the $25 rate as a USFS member. I skipped icenetwork (and fsu) last year due to finances, and both were major mistakes. I don't get NBC reliably, so I had almost no skating all last year.

...and IceNetwork went and charged last year's card instead. :wall: Had to request a refund, and speak with an account specialist so I can get the $39.99 price when I repurchase. Ugh.

Thursday as in TODAY, August 22, 2013.

Straight from the horses mouth: "Just so you know we are rolling out the new site over a few days. Most of it is going out now. But since the new format is radically different, some of the archival video pages, etc, won’t be back online until next week. All items should be fully launched by the end of next week."

I just went on there. Is the idea to make it more mobile-friendly/easier to load? Heh. It took several minutes to load the home page and when I clicked on one of the page links, I had a black screen for so long I gave up. I wonder if it's because I have an older version of IE (8, which is not really that old) here at work. If that's it, maybe I can convince IT to let me upgrade. No Firefox or Chrome here.

I just noticed they have Nebelhorn listed. I don't know if it will be live or on demand only.

I see they did away with the forums on the IN. Also i don't see any way to watch old videos from the last few US Nationals. It looks like those are gone too. Oh wait i just the read the comment from Visaliakid about the archival pages being up next week. :)

Not happy. I could not get the schedule page to even load, even when logged in.

I tried both Firefox & IE9.
In both cases, when clicking on Schedule/Results, I get a Page is unavailable; try again later message.

If I go to icenetwork.com, it takes me to a new home page where the Schedule + Results link does not work.

If I go to http://web.icenetwork.com/events/schedule.jsp, it takes me to an old version of the site on the 2012 schedule. From there I can click on the Complete Event Schedule tab and find the listings by month for 2013 and 2014.

I think the point is that the new site isn't ready yet and you need to take a backdoor route to get to the old site.
