For me, everyone skating in the ladies event for the past several years has been pretty boring, except for an occasional good SP by Nagasu. Nobody has been able to hold my interest thru a free skate since Cohen (and even then, I'm not sure if it was the skating or the tension of waiting to see where she would screw up).

Yes, I also found Kwan to be boring.

I liked Yagudun. I wasn't that keen on Plushy's skating, but could never have called him boring. I didn't usually find Lysacek or Weir boring, but today's top guys can't hold my interest for long. Takahashi can at least keep my attention thru an SP.

    Pairs. OMG. What a wasteland.

Amen, and btw. an awesome idea for another thread! I don't get why it shouldn't be allowed to mention the names of your personal bores, like to state your personal "heartthrobs". And to all the complainers, you've been warned, why don't you just ignore this topic? :wall:

OK, these are the skaters I find boring/dull, past/present mixed:
Rachael Flatt, Kimmie Meissner, Joannie Rochette, Jennifer Robinson, Viktoria Volchkova, Karolina Kostner, Angela Nikodinov, Michelle Kwan, Yoshie Onda, Zhang/Zhang, Siudeks, Eltsova/Bushkov, Dube/Davison, Sale/Pelletier (well, not exactly boring, I just don't like them very much) - same with Evgeny Plushenko, on to the bores - Elvis Stojko, Brian Boitano (except his excellent Olympic programs!), Timothy Goebel, Todd Eldredge, Patrick Chan, Evan Lysacek

Actually, that is what I like figure skating for: it can give you all kinds of emotions, from :cheer2: and :swoon: to :scream: and :wall:, included. Also, boring skaters are absolutely necessary for fridge break purposes :)
Moving on to my own version of The List of the Most Boring Skaters: Kevin van der Perren, Brandon Mroz, Michal Brezina, Vaughn Chipeur, Jeremy Abbott (well, maybe I'm not sophisticated enough to get his programs, but I liked his SP this year), Rachael Flatt, Ksenia Makarova, Cynthia Phaneuf (and other Canadian ladies except Joannie Rochette), Zhang/Zhang, Brodeur/Mattatal, Kemp/King, and... none of the ice dance teams :D In fact, I cannot say I dislike any of the skaters out of this list. Moreover, I often tend to like such skaters in general, for example, I'm impressed by Kevin van der Perren's long career and love for the sport, but his skating is not my cup of tea. Skaters that annoy me belong to another category which has nothing in common with this thread.
There are also cases when particular programs, not skaters, are boring. For example, I like Joubert, but I find his numerous Matrix-like programs very zzz-inducing (the classical style he sticks to this year appeals to me much more). Same with Lysacek: I usually love his passion and attack, but his Sheherazade LP seemed boring to me.

So what we can conclude from this thread is that every skater ever in existence can be found boring by a skating fan depending on personal tastes or biases. Tell us something we didn't already know. :p:lol:

I guess I'm gonna be :lynch: for this list but here it goes:

    - Michelle Kwan (never got her, I find her overrated)
    - Matt Savoie
    - Sergei Davydov (best insomnia cure ever)
    - Zhang/Zhang
    - Carolina Kostner (I don't get the fuss about her)
    - Alisa Drei
    - Evan Lysacek
    - Virtue/Moir
    - Fumie Suguri
    - Rachael Flatt
    - Viktoria Volchkova
    - Julia Sebestyen
    - Chengjiang Li
    - Kimmie Meissner
    - Nina Petushkova (no explanation needed)
    - Ivana Reitmeyerova
    - Dubé/Davison
    - Inoue/Baldwin
    - Crone/Poirier
    - Imaikina/Bezmaternikh (due to her, he is great)
    - Polina Shelepen

    that's it for now.

OMG, I totally forgot about him! Oh yeah, he was definitely a cure for insomnia.

Also a point for you for having the courage to name V/M. I personally find them annoying more than boring, but I really thought there weren't too many people who disliked them. Good, means I'm not insane ;)

Ziggy, I agree about CoP being destructive for ice dance. Best example of how far the boringness has gone there is that not only weak teams are boring (which could be kind of understandable), but there are also totally dull dances winning medals. See the whole 2009 worlds podium, for example.

This season there is one (Crone/Poirer) Senior FD that I've enjoyed so far.

One. And I've watched the entire GP series, 3 Nationals, Russian Nationals and various bits and bobs from other competitions on YouTube. :wall:

All skaters since the mid-90s except Michelle Kwan, Alexei Yagudin, Alissa Czisny, Johnny Weir, Irina (not a fave, but not boring), Plushy (same as Irina), Shizuka, Sasha Cohen, Mirai Nagasu, Lu Chen, Takahashi, Shen and Zhao, Lambiel. I'm sure I've forgotten a few.

To see who won! And who was robbed, who was overscored. To see if even a boring skater like Rachael Flatt can pull off a seven triple program. To see if Yu Na still has it, to lament over what Mao was and what she has become, to see if Caroline Zhang has fixed her mule kick. The list goes on. Skaters may be boring, but the sport isn't.

    Oh, and this:
To those lacking both views: Miss Kwan :swoon: live = 100 times better than Miss Kwan on TV
