I checked several youtube clips. Each pronounced her French-Canadian family name differently. Could I get some hint on this?

The correct French pronunciation is approximately "mah-yay" though Anglo-Canadians would pronounce it "mallay."

"mah-yay" would be the pronounciation of Maillet

Mallet, well, there should be no real pb with it, "Ma - lé"

Just don't look for correct pronounciations on her name (or anyone else with a French last name) from the Eurosport British commentators. They of course got Veronik's name wrong, and followed it by with talking about her coach Annie Barabe (without the accent on the last e, apparently, so pronounced like 'barab' for them with only two syllables).

It took them two years to figure out that Jessica Dubé's last name had two syllables.

It should be more like Ma-lè, not Ma-lé.

But the double L is slightly palatalized in French regardless of the preceding vowel combination, no?
