    Really? Oh my! :swoon:

For some reason his name never popped into my head when thinking of who would be suitable to play the next Superman but good choice.

No opinion on this casting, but he reminds me so much of Ben Affleck, only handsomer.

Henry Cavill. Looks good to me :hat1:.

Poor Brandon Routh. He's still young enough to reprise the role, but the last Superman reboot attempt really sucks.

I'm not too crazy about Zack Snyder as the director for the new S though.

    YES YES YES YES YES

I'm afraid I won't like him anymore, because he'll become a conceited jerk. He's such a nice guy.

His performance through the Tudors was what kept me watching. I found his transition from reckless youth to a seasoned middle age man to be far more compelling than JRM's King Henry.

Great casting choice! Even though I don't really watch super hero movies, I may have to see him play Superman.

He was my favorite in the Tudors.

I can't even remember who played the last Superman.

I'm glad that British and Australian actors are being cast as American superheroes as there are no American men who are able to act.

He was the reason I kept watching The Tudors, beheading after be-bedding.
    Hot hot hot man.

I'd rather see a Smallville/Superman movie with Tom Welling and Erica Durance as the leads.

I remember Empire magazine calling him the unluckiest man in Hollywood. Well, I think his luck just got better. However, I don't like the choice of director.

Their had been a lot of talk (until this announcement) about Joe Manganiello (Alcide from True Blood) getting the part. He'd been in talks, and had campaigned pretty hard for it, but sadly...

On the bright side it means he gets to keep his scruffy face and focus more on True Blood and planning his wedding, so that's good!

I agree. Especially if it meant getting more Cassidy Freeman. I've never seen The Tudors. It just never interested me enough to check out. However Cavill does have the hair for the part:). I'm not getting excited for this movie until I find out out who they cast for Lois Lane. They had a good Superman last time and totally bombed with Kate Bosworth. Not to mention the whole *shudder* Superbaby thing.

Considering that SV started sucking so bad that many of my friends and I gave it up years ago, I'm afraid I don't see that working very well. Cavill's Superman might actually have a functioning brain cell, which would put him one up on Welling's.
