you only saw that now?

heard in hearsay on mn's tumbler (i couldn't find in any referring article)--feng ze (sp) who won p-bars said he spent 20 minutes working on his hair that morning, because he knew he would be up against marcel in PB final

if this can be confirmed, then it's not just you (and me) who spend a lot of time thinking about marcel and philipp's hair

^I can picture it now. Feng doing Marcel's hair who's busy doing Philipp's hair who's got his hands full doing Feng's hair.

    :p

    *ahem*
    *clears throat, makes serious face*

    b-man,
i'm glad my blathering about john orozco actually informed someone for once. :D

btw, i was re-watching the men all-around on NBCSN today (thanks to a tip from a helpful FSU-er), because i was hoping for more of john's return-to-respectable-rankings performances, since NBCSN claims to show twice the sports in the same period of time. but nope--it was the same ol' coverage. even the leyva fluff was the same-- in fact, the fluff seemed even longer.

Sorry for taking so long to get to this. My life went a little crazy last week! Here are the results of the Olympic prediction contest!

Congratulations to our gold medalists, chipso1 and Cloudy_Gumdrops! Since this is Gymnastics, I have decided to break the tie in the most arbitrary manner possible. Yes, I have decided to drop each person's lowest score and recalculate! And so the winner is Cloudy_Gumdrops! Okay, just kidding. There may be no ties in Gymnastics but there are ties in prediction contests! GOLD FOR EVERYONE! Well... the two of you. ;)

And congrats to our bronze medalist minuet! And, if you get depressed with your bronze medal, you should remember, those of us who FINISHED FOURTH would kill for that bronze medal. Really. We we would. I'm just saying.

    15. (103) Eotys
    16. (30) DimaToe
    17. (28) jobelle
    18. (19) viennese

Now for the individual event results, for the men's event, Cloudy_Gumdrops and Chipso1 are hogging the top results but the bronze medalist is MEEEEE! :cheer: :cheer2: :cheer: Finally! I feel like Aly Raisman on the balance beam.

For the women, chipso1 and Cloudy_Gumdrops are basically the Chinese men in 2008. They take gold and silver again! But mkats tied for the silver!

FYI: Gabby Douglas is on The Tonight Show coming up soon and every member of the Fierce Five will be on The Today Show tomorrow morning and Letterman tomorrow night. :cheer:

Gabby is so darn cute. I love her shoes! She did a really nice job on The Tonight Show. I'm amazed at her poise! :D

Hmm if you want to catch up or rewatch Olympic coverage heaps of events appear to be on the olympics official youtube channel. Gymnastics has Shannon Miller commentary.

http://www.youtube.com/user/olympic - Not sure how much is staying around but it is pretty good.

You can download Expat Shield (free) to view these videos, but you have to be careful - during the download, my computer got loaded with OpenCandy adware and my homepage was changed without my approval. The software also slowed down my computer. The software uninstalled easily, but I had to remove the adware with Microsoft Security Essentials.

You can also use Firefox with the Stealthy add on. I tried it yesterday and it worked.

I lost track, why didn't CHN have a guy in the AA? Did they not bring any all-arounders?

Only one of them competed all six events and he didn't qualify. Actually they even passed him as a reserve - Guo Weiyang was first reserve for the AA final, but third reserve Jimmy Verbaeys from Belgium ended up competing.

I don't know which qualifier withdrew, but I read that first reserve Stepan Gorbachev had already gone home before the AA final.

ETA it was Romanian Flavius Koczi who withdrew, allegedly to focus on apparatus finals, not that it helped....

The fierce five press tour continues--I saw them being interviewed by Soledad obrien on CNN. I only caught a little bit of it because I was at the gym, but I did see that mckayla did say "if something doesn't happen the way you want it to you just have to laugh it off, being disappointed doesn't help anyone." aw mckayla I am impressed.

McKayla's agent/facebook person and Aliya's webmaster seem to be in a competition with each other to see who can post the most TV interviews of their protoge's on facebook. Aliya is winning I think due to her award at the Kremlin from Putin, giving a speech and being awarded a car for her efforts!!

I have to say that McKayla is the main reason to watch the fierce 5 interviews. She's fabulously bitchy in a - I'm cute and can pull this off without offending anyone - way and was an absolute hoot on Letterman.

Isn't this the same programme that Tat did and Gordeeva did a few years ago? Agree on Vika's hair :fragile: She needs to grow it and buy some volumising shampoo and conditioner ASAP!!

Great to see Khorkina :) I wish I understood Russian, it would be great to know what they are saying!

She's channeling her inner David Bowie, I don't speak Russian but still understood all of the medals she reminded people she had won. ;) You tell em' Sveta!
