I think she may be the first non-pair to get two off the alternates list from Top 75 SB.

That has been the practice since they started the substitutes list. Originally, this was formal, and the groups of 3 (as the rule was back then) only started after the (returning) or newly added split couples and comeback skaters got two. Last year the Announcement changed to apply the groups of 5 to all the skaters on the alternates list.

It's hard to say whether they would look to P/T first, based on his SB with Takahashi, or if there would have been a choice between them and Davis/Brubaker, had their not been three US couples at SA.

There are already 3 american girls in TEB. I hope it's either Imai or Gosviani

However, Hicks would be eligible for Skate Canada where there are only two Americans.

Both Imai and Gosviani are slated for Russia the following week; not impossible, but challenging.

And I think Hicks has a good shot of getting it. Lacoste can't take the slot, she's already there... and Zhang would be unlikely because she's in China the next week.

    I called it!:

Very happy for Courtney. I thought she was gracious about not getting SA, and I'm glad she'll get a shot on the grand prix this year.

Good for Courtney. Glad she is being rewarded for her skating in the last couple competitions.

Yay! She absolutely deserves the spot, and I hope another one opens up later in the series.

Maybe USFS now will invite a Canadian pair (Purich/Tran?) to Skate America? :)

ETA that I missed seeing this earlier post:

I would love it if Purich/Tran were added to Skate America, seeing as there is only one other Canadian team going right now.

They really deserve it as well. They've gelled really quickly and skated very well in the SP at Nebelhorn Trophy for such a new team. I think they have lots of potential.

I agree, they need more competitions together, but the SP was very nice

I truly envy you, manhn! Their silent film program last year blew me away. They weren't just skating to "The Artist", they honest to God were the actors! :smokin: *shades of sasha cohen and r&j*

I assume you mean Skate America? They were already assigned to Skate Canada in the original assignments.

Strange that it didn't go to Purich & Tran given past practice, but nice that P&M got the assignment after having to miss the Salt Lake Sr. B.

Yes, they had already been assigned SC. Regardless, manhn, Marinaro is the bomb -- love him!

If she had won Nebelhorn she will be added at the bottom of the alternate list but that didn't happen so..

Me too! It'll be the first figure skating competition I attend live, and when I saw a spot opened up I was reaally hoping for Purich/Tran to get it (Looove him). Plus, it just doesn't seem right for the world jr silver medalists to get a second spot before the gold medalists do (at least I don't think Denney/Frazier have a second yet). Ah well, I'm sure I'll manage :)
