Was that the programme where the step sequence took a full minute?

Yeah, well the chance of her getting to actually skate it at the Olympics is pretty low so she may as well not invest in something new.

I think it was even longer than one minute.

I've just looked at my reports from that GP season and here is my first impression:

'Horrific program construction. First jump planted at on one end of the rink. Then she skates to the other end to plant two jumps and a spin there. Next an extremely long straight line step sequence, followed by two spins executed in the middle of the rink. And that's it. Awful element layout, hardly any ice coverage. She should get destroyed on the CH mark (if the judges actually cared about things like this). And Morozov needs to be run over by a truck.'

Yes, she was very perky and sold the program well but I've seen pre-novice skaters at small local Polish competitions with better choreographed programs. :wall:

I wouldn't worry. I don't think she has much chance to be sent to Europeans/Worlds/Olympics this season anyway.

If you call that a step sequence - yes

I'll be surprised if she even makes the podium at nationals.

She will definitely not make podium at nationals. I can't see her beating Lipnitskaya, Radionova, Sotnikova and Medvedeva. (I would say and Tuktamysheva, but Liza has not been that great this season, so if she messes up her SP quite badly at nationals, Leonova could potentially beat her). But considering Leonova's poor results last year, she won't be given the benefit of doubts (held up on PCS to make up for lack of jumps) this year at nationals.

That pirate program won the SP at Worlds, but of course Alena is going to say "FSU doesn't like it, so scratch that." I'm glad she's going to back to her strength which is character driven programs. I like the idea of reviving the witch program too. Hoping it will give her some confidence. I don't think she'll make the team either, but technically she is the most decorated Russian lady at the senior level right now, so she needs to feel that she can do it and give it her best shot.

Alena can do whatever she wants and she feels comfortable with. The judges should know better, though.

I have a question. Do you think this lift is illegal because she is sitting on his shoulders just a moment. (.52) I love this lift from I/K. I hope its OK.

I can't see a reason why it should be illegal. Last season Virtue-Moir has a lift where Virtue had one thigh on Moir's shoulder, her other thigh on his other shoulder and her private parts just in front of his face and that wasn't illegal (she has sitting on his shoulders).

Lift looks great to me. It's not like they did a split with her upside down and then held the position -- which is what got the Germans (I think) a deduction. I like it -- not that it means anything to the judges.

I don't think it is because she is fully supported by his hands while sitting there.

So there's no penalty for doing competitions at the same time you withdrew from a GP, like there is when you withdraw and do a show?
