Black is a very cool color!!! And it makes you look thinner!! But sometimes it can work against you (Ex: Tutktamysheva). And too much black can be boring/uninteresting.

 Well, if you read my post carefully, you may notice that I said that the previous season (now is 2013-2014, so the previous season is obviously 2012-2013) they were supposed to skate for their SP to Cats but changed it last minutes to third version of their waltz. Third version because they have already used one season the same music for exhibition and then another season for FS. Is there anything on this you disagree with? (I don't care whether you count or don't count exhibition, the bottom line is that they have used that music for two seasons already) :p

I found their FD more interesting than the one of S&Z.
Couldn't see the vídeo of Elena and Nikita. There is a message saying that the vídeo doesn't exist.

I'm not sure you know what season you're in, that may be the problem.

This wiki page has a list of K/S music, that may help you.

You have to scroll down to find it. There's a lot of info on the page.

OMG, I don't know what you two are arguing about but last year (2012/2013) K/S had a SP to 'Cats'. They skated it at one of the closed rentals and shortly afterwards changed it (disapproval from the feds?) to whatever it was they skated to (don't know, not a fan). It was talked about on the Russian forums last yr (saying it was a recycled program, etc).

That is not the "real" costume, Elena said it was left over from an exhibition they were going to skate over the summer, but never did in the end.

Thank you for the link :)
Their lifts are great, unusual ones, but aside them there's nothing special in this routine.
    Hope they'll change the costumes.

While it not be great for or intended for that program, it's a beautiful dress. I wish the program didn't look so frenetic, though. It's not very musical, at least at this stage: they're skating through a lot of the music.

I don't think it is a dress. It is dancers wrap skirt. A lot of skating shops sell that. She used it with some body suit because this skirt you tie around you and it doesn't have knickers sewn in.

Shall we begin a dispute on the definition of the usual lift, so we can thus qualify the unusual ones? :)
OK, I'll put it the other way: I liked the lifts in their program. This is my personal opinion.

(Artur Gachinski) No wonder, as his choreographer Juri Smekalov danced the role of Vronski in the Anna Karenina ballet. So you probably saw Smekalov dancing?

More on Smekalov here on the Mariinski Theatre's website: http://www.mariinsky.ru/company/ballet_mt_men/yuri_smekalov/

I really liked Gachinski's program the first time I saw it during the training camp in Italy. I believe it has huge potential.

Elena T.'s LP has loads of potential. Her body language is a big troubling in that run through, but she is ripping most of those jumps off like they are nothing. Can't wait for Finlandia!

I still can't deal with the way that IK's FD music ends. It is completely artificial. It seems like it should build up but suddenly it ends instead of having the part where the black swan shows her true colors and the prince realizes what has happened.

    Thank you!

I like Ilinykh's dress/ensemble, just not for this. I see they have added no transitions since the test skate, so what I thought was them skating through their choreo was in fact their choreo. But the way ice dance is judged today, I applaud that as smart planning. They have good speed. I like the lifts, and the twizzles used the music well and covered the ice. Nikita does well with the demon character, but somehow this program feels really juniorish, even compared to the other two teams here.

S&Z look much more polished and mature, but the program is a disappointed coming from Averbukh.

I think I liked S&B best. They had the most going on in their program. That music sounds so familiar. They showed great speed and attack, and they look like they are seniors and have been for some time, especially him. I hate the way they are rushing through everything though, and her positions are so ugly. What happened to all the good female Russian ice dancers? :(

I&K's program has stunning lifts and beautiful flow, but there really isn't much happening outside the elements, and the program felt disjointed the longer it went on.

I'm a bit disappointed in both S&Z and S&B's FDs as well. Both seemed heavy and nondescript. Neither team looked as techincally sharp as M&K have so far either.

Disjointed is a good word for I&K. It was like here's a famous piece of music from Swan Lake, and another famous piece of music from Swan Lake, and another. There wasn't much connection between them either. They seemed to be performing two completely different dances. S&Z and S&B both did the generic flingy Eastern Euro stuff. It's sad this is what Russian ice dancing has become.

I hope whatever B&S are working on now is good. :shuffle:

Are we really going to have to wait to CoC to see it? :wuzrobbed

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I love what Artur has been able to do in developing his upper body...his moves look strong. Not enough jumps here to judge, but the one he landed was wonderful!! Liza looks goo, too!

THIS is why I love this kid so much!! He researches his music, outsources things like the ballet version, and pays homage to the ballet program and dancer in his program!! I love those moves!

I LOVE Gachinski too! He has a champion spirit within that is striving to emerge. He is so brilliantly talented, but it's such a shame to see him not be able to produce the jumps in competition that he performs so easily in practice. I would love to see him on any podium; he is definitely one of my favorites. :)

Are they still with Morozov? Maybe time to leave. 3 seasons ago they were silver medallists at junior worlds, and since then the best they managed it 2nd place at same senior B competitions, 7th and 6th at GP... And now they were beaten by couples from Hungary, Czech and Slovakia? 9th??? That's not great! I think this has been their worst result within the last few years.

Good, I am sure Krylova will fix them. But there is a lot of work to be done and that will take time.

So I don't completely hate Artur's new SP on first view. In fact I kinda like it. I don't immediately love it, but I kinda like it. I'm sure it'll grow on me. But damn he was so close to sticking that quad. Chin up, Artur! It wasn't terrible!

I actually quite like Liza's SP - the girl knows how to sell it, at least. Music is pretty awful, would be fine without that terrible vocal especially at the end; in some arenas I can see spectators muffling their ears, because I can imagine that live that's going to get pretty shrill.
