I think, some people understand why I'm laughing. For purposes of explanation, a Plushy's quote, before Vancouver:
"Многие спешили меня списать со счетов. Но уверяю: меня никто не спишет, если я сам не захочу".

"Many people have tried to write me off, but I can assure them, no one would write me off, if I do not want."
I just hope, I could translate his thought. If anybody can translate better, do it, please.

I really hope Plushy can stay healthy, and compete at the 2014 Olympics, regardless of where he places. The crowd reaction when he takes the ice is going to be incredible.

Well, I wouldn't laugh at such Plushy's quote, as he is already jumping impeccable tricksels - just after 4 days of ice training in Pinzzolo!

I don't think he is trying to get another medal. He loves to compete and the Olympics are in his home country. What happens to his body is really his choice, no one else's.

Last season, USFS TBA's were published mid-August. The rest were published from 29 August-4 September.

There's a deadline sometime in August -- it's shifted from the beginning to mid-August -- by which time the Federations have to confirm the initial selections, although they can announce withdrawals before then. Then they have a couple of weeks to announce the TBA's, although in some prior seasons, the French Federation announced only after a later internal competition, 10 October for the 2011-12 season, for example.

There were several withdrawals/replacements before/at the confirmation deadline: Contesti's retirement, Marley/Brubaker's split, and Kostner's withdrawal, which caused earlier churn than usual. Later there were Dube/Wolfe's split and Ando's withdrawal, aside from injury withdrawals.

Does anyone know when there are Russian test skates? If I remember correctly, last year some started already in August, or was it in September? (I thought because they had to decide who get the JGP and first JGP is at the end of the August, it if I recall right it starts quite early). Getting impatient for the season to start!

There are two test skates, the earlier one in August for juniors and the later one for seniors, usually in mid September. As far as I know this year the Fed will hold a training camp in Sotchi starting in August (end of August IIRC) that includes the test skate in early September. There was speculation that these Olympic season test skates in Sotchi will be not open to the public or even media.

He's not blonde but he still doesn't look hot...

Second pic is amazing! Oleg still has great extension! He looks so young when he skates (honestly, not much older than Zhao and Tikhonov in their last seasons ). And Tamara is just unbelievable every time she goes out on the ice. :)

Moskvina held an open lesson in St. Petersburg, there was a short report on the FSO by `Natalie Skinner'. Summing up:

The participants: Kawaguti/Smirnov with Moskvina, Gerboldt/Enbert with Vasiliev, Natalatii/Bobrov with Sokolov and Urmanov with 2 junior skaters.
They were asked not to upload the videos.

KawaSmi skated their new programmes. Both choreographed by Tchernyshev. The music is very different from their usual - starts like most of their pieces, but by the end it becomes quite dramatic.
The SP is very different in it's mood, Moskvina explained it's about Yuko's journey in figure skating, her love to the sport that brought her to Russia. First it starts with an oriental motive and then changes into a russian well known song.
They attempted a quad throw 3 times. All not really successful

Gerboldt/Enbert look a bit more confident. Landed a clean throw 3 jump.

    YAY!!!!

    Thanks, TAHbKA!

Cute video of Moskvina & Vasiliev. [Moskvina looks nowhere near ready for retirement.]

Really looking forward to seeing videos of the test skates in a couple of months.

    Very intriguing news.

:respec: Moskvina must still have some great abs to pull that off, and Vasiliev has beautiful knee action. Legends.

Alexander Gorshkov, "I am pleased with the mood of Zhenya Plushenko and the other guys"

The President of the Federation of figure skating Russian Olympic champion Alexander Gorshkov returned from Italy, where he attended a control group of skaters rental stores coach Alexei Mishin. On his impressions of what he saw Federation president told the website FFKKR.

Alexander G., can we consider the past controls rentals summing up at this stage of training athletes?

That's it. Group Alexei Mishin held long enough collection in Italy. I arrived in Pinzolo at the very end, and the last control rentals are summarizing the work done. In my view, the collection was fruitful. To a large extent, I was interested in the basic structure of the athletes. And first of all, Zhenya Plushenko. I can say that I liked his attitude. I liked his new short program. Very pleased. The program is an interesting, emotional, and Eugene is very good it feels.

As for the level of preparedness Plushenko, in a situation in which he found himself, given the recent operation, so far, it seems to me, everything is going according to plan. The main thing - do not force.

New programs for hire in Italy showed Arthur Gachinski and Lisa Tuktamysheva. What can you say about this?

Arthur and Lisa rolled new programs - short and arbitrary. Both programs Arthur I really liked. It seemed to me that Arthur grew up in these programs. His skating has become more powerful, masculine. And technical equipment comply with the requirements.

Lisa showed their programs. My impression is that they go to her. During the conversation with Lisa, athlete confirmed that the new program - it is just what she wanted.

Two words about the venue fee.

In my opinion, Pinzolo - is a good choice for training camp. The township pleasant, bright, beautiful. The city is situated at an altitude of about 800 meters, but in spite of the fact that it is the mountains, you feel very comfortable. There is no sense of claustrophobia, which often occurs in the mountains.

Nice big rink. There stadium. And by the way, at the same time held their training players of Milan "Inter", which was attended by a huge number of fans, so that all the hotels of this little town was crowded, and the streets are made to the cars. The whole town dressed in the form of the Milan club. Next to the stadium immediately appeared tent, where you can buy various souvenirs, memorabilia, "Inter".

I loved that while practicing the basic structure of "Inter", the leadership team hold special events for children, conducted classes with beginning players. And all these kids in T-shirts, "Inter" walked past our rink. To me, though, it was hard to figure out who is more proud, parents or children? In my opinion, those and others.
