    thanks for posting this.
i really like polina s. and hope she can deliver this season when it counts.
unfortunately her pcs weren´t very high again, but let´s see how that will be at the grand prixs.

i really loved her last years sp, not sure about the new one. but it´s very early.

OK. I think Morosov has to be credited with some of her success last season. She seemed to have a renewed desire to win which served her well. I know it's blasphemous to credit him with anything, but I do think he has been good for her. I'm not saying she had elegant programs, but she certainly had programs that scored well and she seemed happy with his coaching.

I have my favorites, but find something to like about all the Russian ladies, be it grace, technical ability or sheer determination.

her PCS were indeed low, I saw the protocol,
she scored a total of only 51.+ something on this

I don't know why she is always scored low especially her SP :wall:
then as someone said here, she has to " mountain climb " at the LP for technical merits not counting her useless PCS scores.

I don't expect much from her at Skate Canada but I think Shlepen has improved and passed puberty and kept all her jumps, she just needs a physiologist to control her SP phobias, lol

thanks i´m not the only one with that opinion :D

don´t know why either, don´t talk about 27,28 in pcs, but 24, 25.
don´t know, why she always stays around 22points.

as said, she passed puberty, hope she will get stronger an stroner i really enjoy her skating

She has a tendency to mess up the SP, so her PCS usually suffers from that. On top of that, let's face it she usually skates through the music (so does Lipnitskaya). I am glad that she skated well here, she looked to be listening to the music while skating, and this was lovely to see. So, overall I think her decision to leave her former coach and join Morosov group was a great one. I hope she will do well this year.

Perhaps it was just the video angle but she looked deathly slow. That will definitely negatively effect PCS. I hope she has a good season; I like her. This program is very meh to me, but at least her arms aren't flopping around all over the place.

I don't know how Leonova will fare this year.
Morozov does have a positive affect on the results of his singles skaters in the first season they are with him and generally the 2nd season is a disappointment as the novelty wears off.( Oda, Rippon, Amodio, Takahashi. The pattern differed with Ando and Ilinykh..but circumstances with those 2 were a bit different)
I guess that 2014 in Russia may keep his interest in Leonova strong.

May be I am being too hard on her- it's only the beginning of the season- but she seemed slow in the footwork section, and in some of her spins. The sit spin was not low enough, and I did not feel any connection to the music.

That does not mean she won't do much better in Feb/March.

to be honest, andos second year under him was very unpleasant, too.

the samson&delilah-short (which i actually liked) was thrown away, after she didn´t have best scores at grand prix and most of us will remember her carmen-ending in gothenburg ath worlds. her only succesful performance was at nationals this season.

wisely, they changed the awful giselle-program the year after, this could have been the complete knockout for her. but however, he got her strong again she had some really great programs imo (memoirs of a geisha sp, cleopatra fs, mission-sp).

BTW Shelepen's SP is choreographed by Tarasova. And yes, she's definetely in Sokolovskaya's group now, because Vodorezova refused to take her (she wants to focus on Adelina).

I was so happy when she announced her music but now I'm quite disappointed.
The music cut is weird, the dress is not so pretty and the choreography not related to the theme.
Last year Orford Williams did, IMO, a better job with Gone with the Wind

GWTW + 2 additional pieces that seem kind of random + GWTW...

I don't get the resurgence in popularity of GWTW to begin with, but these music cuts are strange. :scream:

too many mistakes in her LP :wall:
I don't get out of all the coaches she went to Sokolovskaya ? :blah:
she doesn't have a good record of her students

I hate to say this but the only one that could save Shelepen now is if she
Dumps Sokolovskaya :scream: pronto and go to Morozov

I'd like this better if she were wearing green velvet curtains, complete with curtain-rod, à la Carol Burnett.

I think it may have to do with the fact that there really is only one phrasing used again and again in the same program...similar to the repetiitive phrase in most of the Evita programs we see.

Ilinykh and Katsalapov are apparently out of the test skates next week; she's still having problems with her shoulder.

Shelepen has the same weaknesses as before and if anything, they are even more pronounced now. However, this is likely due to how early it is in the season and perhaps because she is still adjusting to the new coach. The programs both have potential though and I like the costumes and overall packaging quite a bit. She has a strikingly beautiful figure out on the ice, and the jumps are still big, if she can clean up the spins, add some more speed, and make the set up for the jumps less pronounced, I think her PCS will improve and she should do fine/well at her GP events.

gee, it sounds like a bunch of internet posters are the Mighty Judges to whom the skaters owe great results! the level of self-importance (??) around here is really ridicolous!
i don't know how to insert the reputation thing, so I'll thank Cherub here for all his/her recent posts. :)

I read on the Russian forums that Bobrova will be wearing a pale pink dress for the SD and Dimitri will be wearing a dark blue Hussar's outfit. Apparently TAT didn't like their programs that much.

Also, the russian fed supposedly told BS to go to Shpilband but they opposed it (probs because Dima has a family in Moscow)

Soloviev may be young but he has been married years now and has a family. It's not you are dealing with the usual singles. I personally do not want to read so much focus on their clothes! It is the first thing that all the people see but ...seriously!! It's not their biggest problem.

I think she was most influential with Riazinova and Tkachenko and they stayed at 3 (and she only deals with programs but they also had the lowest tech).

True. But if they're the Russian champs and Tarasova isn't supportive, that's not a great sign... or does she have some beef with Zhulin?

There was criticism of him by her with the issues around I/K but they are just major controversy causers in Russian ice dance. But they must have such a long history so it might be something else.

I think these costumes sound nice though :) I think Bobrova will look pretty in a light-pink dress.
