Nope. Not even for Ivan Panin or Gillis Grafström.
104 years after first winning the OGM in Special Figures in London, Nikolai Panin is still the reigning champion in his discipline. Even the Henies, Grafströms, and Rodninas of this world can't say that.
If he goes totally bionic at some point, might have a ghost of a chance of meeting that standard, but I rather doubt it.
Actually, what most people have said is that a skater's record doesn't necessarily have to be the key criterion, not that it's absolutely not the criterion. I think Yagudin's very impressive record reflects his talent and abilities, while Takahashi's not-as-impressive-as-it-could-be record does not reflect what he can do as a skater. So I give the edge to the guy who was a great skater and competitor, and whose results are commensurate with his potential. If others prefer to vote for Dai because they enjoy his skating that much, and are willing to overlook his inconsistency over the years, of course that's a legitimate view. Just not my view.
Exactly, it's a matter of one's view, and I wouldn't want to impose mine on you!
It's just an off-season poll, albeit a very entertaining one!
So I can't vote for Michal?
It's spelled Michelle, and no she can't win every poll!
Noooooooo! Please, anything but that!
That said, I voted correctly this time. Go Dai!
Argh. I didn't want Yagudin to win this so easily, but worthy competitors would have been Plush and Chan. Against, Takahashi, I have to vote for him.
I'm no scientist, but chan taka and plushy will all be in sochi vying for gold and this poll tells me taka is the fan favorite.
Voting for Yags is so last decade...
This should not even be a contest. Alexei.
This poll is not about REAL competitive winner! he he it is you Plushy
Its about favorite skate.
Go Dai! You are the Best!
Wasn't 'Taka' actually Takahiko Kozuka? At least I've read some posts where fans called him so. It seem that Daisuke is more often called 'Dai' (I call him that too from time to time).
That's what I was confused with since I'm so get used to calling Kozuka as Taka but Dai's last name is indeed Takahashi, so
No, I meant Michal Brezina, the best figure skater ever.
Alexei will always be the best to me. He was so athletic and had beautiful artistry. Winter is a classic, the best sp ever imo.
Yagudin should win this by a mile.
I cant believe Yagudin is winning again
more Votes for False God Yagudin
Not so false after all, it would seem.

You know what? I think I am falling for you.

Oh, Thanks. I revised it.
Fall for Michal. He is an exquisite person!
^Daisuke has also a bronze Oly medal.
I love both but no question for me - Yagudin is the best ever! I am shocked Daisuke has 40% of the vote.
