    I'll ditto the G/P Requiem:

In this video, it is especially spell binding since there is nothing preceding the dance. There is something so powerful in the thumping beat and their slow rise across the ice.

definitely something! and needless to say, the choreography throughout this program is just exquisite.
Along with Yagudin's incomparable performances, this program made a not-so-small space in my heart for Tarasova.

magical and also mystical performance! their opening choreography kinda matches the ending pose.

I can't help noticing their already well-known speed across the ice, fluid, eye-catching skating skills. WOW.

This is immediately what I thought of after reading the thread title. Nobody gets into character like the Kween!!

Many of Delobel and Schoenfelder's programs had difficult and interesting opening positions. Then there were the dances which started with little mimed stories before they even hit their opening poses (their Euros 08 Yankee Polka, their 07 Folk OD, the Euros version of their Piano FD).

Probably all of Michelle's programs. ;)

But if I were to pick, I'd choose the openings of Song of the Black Swan and Romanza.

Of course, Torvill and Dean's opening to Bolero was epic!

And I have to add Mao's opening to her Nocturne SP (It was simple but perfect.)

One of my favorites is the opening of Sasha's "Malaguena."

Yes never mind the opening the whole dance is fantastic:)

It's only one of a few programmes that actually gives me goose bumps especially leading up to the part where Marina lifts Gwendal into that awesome split position lift
Should have won no doubt about it

I agree on 100%. I think A/P should be clearly 3 time world champions, it's incredible they have only one title.:(

Back to the topic, I think A/P had very spectacular opening choreographies and especially starting positions from 1998 to 2002. Carmina and Liberta ones were very interesting as well:)

And Blanc/Bouquet had always great choreography, not only opening:D

Jeffrey Buttle's "Aararat" 2008 when he won Worlds. He is so graceful and did a perfect program.

No love for the masters of the get-your-attention-opening lifts, The Siudeks. One of the few of the many skaters to use music to The Mission effectively. You know you've got the audience when the applause starts before the program even begins.

Me too! Both flamenco short programs actually! I wish I'd been around to see her in her prime. Must have been so exciting! :swoon:

I also love the opening of Katarina's 'Carmen', MK's 'Desdemona', 'Taj Mahal' and Salome!

Gotta miss the Siudeks and their out-of-this-world lifts. Sorry for going a bit off-topic here, but the lifts in this video are so breathtaking! Just look at the entrances! and the effortless changing of positions. Damn, I wish today's teams would watch some of their performances and learn, the lifts now got far less exciting.
