I know this is very late, but does anyone have insider info into this? I am going tonight, and I wonder if anyone can give me a tip on how to get a picture with some skaters (or Aretha!) before or afterwards. Also, to take good pictures on my digital camera, are there any suggestions? I have only been to two skating events in my whole life, so I don't know the secrets to making it a great experience.

    Thanks in advance!

Sinead and John Kerr appearing also. They enjoyed trying on what they will be wearing in the show and are thrilled to be appearing with Aretha, a singing legend.

You know you're too much of a figure skating fan when I thought the title was referring to Yu-na because I misread Soul as "Seoul."

    Same here.

I saw Olympic champ and queen of soul. First thing that came to my mind was "oh cool, Yuna's going to do another show besides the Harvard one."

Loved Meryl's dress by Betsey Johnson!! And watching Betsey Johnson react to the skating was a highlight. She's adorable and got really into it.

The G. Mendel clothes were absolutely perfect for skating. Won't be surprised if we end up seeing skating dresses by him, should he be interested...

Show was lots of fun. It's my first show in a long time, and I'm really glad I went. Thinking about making the trek to South Bend for Brian Boitano's show.

Thank you for the pictures, shameless! It's so hard to wait for months for an event to air that already happened. Yes, blurry pictures are always better than no pictures! Although I think your pictures came out quite nicely considering how hard it is to take pics of ice skating. I am :swoon: over Meryl's hair in that 1st picture.

The vids I've seen so far of this show makes me excited to see it on tv in Nov. Looks like a fantastic show. Aretha was in fine voice for the finale singing "Respect", the skaters looked inspired by it. Can't wait to see the costumes and the skating in HD (and on my large screen tv!).

Thanks for the links. I wanted to go to see it but couldn't figure a way out to Sears Centre other than by car. It is not accessible by public transportation. So I guess I'll watch it in November on TV.

Can someone tell me what Sasha and Sarah skated too?? Thanks!! I'm specifically interested in that crazy "outfit" that Sarah wore, with the black fishnet tights! Thanks!

Sasha skated to a Latin number and then to Aretha's "Chain of Fools". Sarah skated to an upbeat song (sorry, don't know the name) and then one of Aretha's new songs. Some impressions and notes: Ryan skates really, really fast. It seemed to me that he covered the ice at twice the speed of most of the ladies, though it's only my sense and something you may laugh at. Jeremy's Adele skate was nice and much better than his old-school big band choice. The first half produced lots of mistakes and reskates. Joannie, Jeremy, Meryl/Charlie, and someone else came out to get the elements landed. Johnny did get the most applause, but I found his skates to be too much posing and not enough moving. Still, he was good. My ice dance preference didn't change live vs. watching on TV: I enjoyed the Kerrs but don't connect with Davis/White. I agree that Tara looked great in her dresses. It would have been nice to have (aside from the Kerrs) some non-North Americans, but I can understand the difficulty in pulling others to Illinois at this time. Aretha sounded off on her low notes and only sang about 5 songs, but I'm glad to have seen her once.

Random aside (I will likely start a new thread for this): I am going to be in the Detroit area Wed. through Fri. Does anyone know if any elite skaters will be training then and, if so, may I watch a practice session?

    I was there, too.

Alissa was breathtaking - especially skating to "Moon River."

I also really liked Meryl and Charlie skating to "Someone Like You."

I had never seen Johnny Weir live, and I was really impressed.

    I really enjoyed the show!

Sarah Hughes skated to "The Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga. (Hence the crazy costume).
