He probably doesn't, but having a cell phone to check developments, especially if he was there all day is not that unreasonable of a thought.

Reporters have put police at a disadvantage before by broadcasting locations and planning. A live feed of a scanner is an extreme of this. Surprise saves police lives.

A Globe photographer is reporting that he can hear the police saying "We know that you're in there. Come out on your own terms. Come out with your hands up."

Unidentified black bag reported in front of another local house, in walking distance of the scene.

Well, I hope the old man gets a reward so that he can replace the boat that the cops had to shoot up in order to get the perpetrator.

It occurs to me that if he was on foot and there was a blood trail, why didn't they bring in tracking dogs? They could have found this kid hours and hours ago. I'm confused. Any scent dog could have trailed him. Curious.

Had to block a cousin's gf on Facebook because she had the damn nerve to say I was being "insulting" when I called the bombers idiots. "They did well in school." SO WHAT!! This is the end result of their supposed intelligence.

If he's salvageable, he'll likely be going to Boston Medical Center, aka BMC. In my experience, BMC staff aren't as media friendly as Brigham or MGH, so we may not hear much overnight.

Haven't read all the earlier comments.

Now, I understand being cautious and doing everything possible to assure the public's safety, but...The mass amount of FBI, SWAT teams and police, transit being shut down, taxi service and Amtrak suspended, Greyhound cancelled, a temporary flight restriction over Boston, colleges classes all cancelled, hospitals on lockdown, people told not to leave their homes...one would think Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein were hiding out in Boston. Terrorists all over the world must be enjoying how a 19 year old punk literally shut down an entire city, and I fear the nuts out there who are looking to cause similar chaos and fear, and to gain such overwhelming attention.

I'm pretty amazed too; good for the law enforcement. I suspect the older brother was the ringleader and true believer (of what, I have no idea); he's the one who ran into a hail of bullets and tried to blow himself up. Younger brother here might have idolized his older brother, and just went along with his plans.

Hmmm, WCVB thinks he's going to Mount Auburn Hospital. Can't be that bad as that's not a level 1 trauma center.

I can't believe they were captured in under 1000 posts.

Boston Globe reporting suspect being transported to Mt. Auburn Hospital; same hospital where transit police officer is recovering from gunshot wound.

I hope he lives long enough to give the information they want. If he was shot 12 hours ago and has been bleeding out and was shot again, I suspect his chances aren't all that good.

Hats off to all the law enforcement officials who put themselves in harms way to pursue these two. Amazing work.

The alternatie is a bunch more dead people. The suspects are dead and in custody and were not able to kill anymore people despite a shootout where they threw another bomb. This is a huge victory for the forces of society against anti-social madmen. I'm sorry for those who can't see it and can't celebrate. But the rest of us are thankful we have such competent law enforcement and that a week that began so horribly ended soon and without more bloodshed.
