I like Malta.
I should have given Albania more points
I like Malta too. It's a cute and happy song. I don't think it will qualify in the real contest though.
That's exactly why I hate it, but then again, I am no taste authority on music! This would be my ultimate Eurovision fantasy.
After my first three choices, everything really blended together in that semi. I think I got stunned sitting through enough variations on sleepy ballads. So much so that I was almost desperate enough to give Lithuania points because it was memorable. 7/10 though!
Agreed on allezfred rocking! Thank you so much!
And hooray for Serbia! The three divas thank you kindly!
so do I
haha, Imperio! I haven't heard it for ages. But I'm afraid their performance would demand too many people on stage. Anyway, that would be awesome .
Apparently - I was alone with Estonia...
Thank you allezfred for being patient with my votes and for all the organization.
Israel? Seriously? Ok, who were those tone deaf voters?
Well, I´m in fact tone deaf, my music teachers can testify
Since the Vampires song that got burned under the stage light it´s the same story I´m still crying over the "Era stupendo" superb crash
Erm, I am notoriously unpatriotic, but Russia deserved a final this time
Allezfred, can we start voting on the final? If I am not mistaken the deadline is May 10?
Yes, vote, vote, vote.
Iceland has already voted ...
We have to vote for the songs, but for me - Eurovison is all about the performance
Need to make new scientific approach tonight for the voting.
Okay, this time I have got good wine for voting, hopefully this will help in some cases
Austria: powerful earphones of mine don't do her any good, she can't sing, altho the song is nice.
Slovenia: techno party of the 90s
Denmark: nice party song and nothing more. I am all apart - one day I like it, another day I just can't stand listening to it.
Ukraine: that porny "Hey" in the background makes me laugh I really wonder what it will be like live
Netherlands: okay, I have to admit she does sing. Not my style though.
Ireland: I am afraid that in the Final I will have nothing to give him. Allezfred is probably wanting to kill me right now.
Serbia: well, nice song, but not very nice performance
Russia: wow, it does sound!
Croatia: I kind of like it once again, but....
San-Marino: I like the song and the video, but it's so lyrical that really it can't possibly win. Oh wow, I forgot she is switching to Vanessa May style in the very end. Quite good for some abstract Free. Jenna, maybe?
Finland: it's such a pop, that even Katy Perry is top.
Malta: when vocals are allowed after Sochi, I just see Verner skating to it.
Iceland: again, it's so lyrical that it can't win. However, I want to study Icelandic. This is probably the country I will feel the best in climate-wise
Israel: Sorry, I have to take my earphones off.
Hungary: I am bound to give 12 points to Kedvesem after Israel. Charmant. Magnifique. Bravo.
Georgia: Sounds powerful. But not exactly my stile. Overpowerful for Eurovision as well.
Greece: I just skip it.
Bulgaria: Samo Shampioni sounds very similar in Russian to Samochampignons That is, they are gorgeous!
Norway: too heavy and too much.
France: ok, Amy Winehouse clone
Italy: no, I still love Ramazotti
Spain: I love Spanish ballads, I do, but this won't win. It doesn't usually do.
Sweden: no, I want Loreen back, even tho she's not my cup of tea.
UK: Well, Bonnie is beyond wonderful, but who is Britain sending next? Annie Lennox, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Oasis, Duran Duran, Dave Gahan or Depeche Mode? Or rather Pet Shop Boys or Erasure? I love them all, but this is something not to be done, preferably, anymore.
The rest I just couldn't survive. Cascada killed me. And not with love.
Thanks to everybody who has sent in their votes so far! Looking forward to receiving the rest of them.
Rehearsals for the actual shows begin on Monday. Here is a handy schedule for those of you who want to follow rehearsals.
The stage looks absolutely stunning.
I listened to all the FSU finalists' songs today and I have two responses:
The amount of dubstep abuse is out of control--and I still preferred many of those songs to the others.
With the exception of Norway, Eastern Europe is kicking Western Europe's ass.
I am still rooting for Norway and against Malta, but more importantly, I'm hoping for voidy, crazy, campy, and insane stage shows.
Sweet Yesus, I survived to listen all the FSu finalists and sent my votes to our great Mr. Allezfred.
The tabloids in Finland are making a big issue of our song Marry me maybe be banned because the singer Krista S. has said that it is a protest against Finland not having a possibility for the same sex couples to marry (in church), and in the song contest, you should not have political themes. We´ll see...
I wonder what will happen with FInland
I survived all the FSU finalists.
Need to sleep on my votes on behalf of Italy.
Dont want to be accused of block judging
First rehearsals for Semi 1 are over and for those of you who don't mind SPOILERS!!! , here are some brief impressions for each entry:
Ukraine (Anybody scared of very tall men don't watch!)
The rehearsals just change completely how some of the songs are received.
Slovenia's presentation should live up to the song's potential, hopefully.
Ukraine's presentation surely has to be a joke... The journalists laughed when the giant carried Zlata on stage at the beginning. During the second rehearsal, they added the effect of the stage shaking when Zlata is being carried. Camera was shaking also and there was a sound effect of loud foosteps. Later during the performance, she almost fell off the box she was standing on (waving her arms too frantically). Those three rehearsals turned her from one of the favourites into a laughing stock and none of the journalists are taking her seriously any more. So well done, Ukraine.
Netherlands should make an incredible impact. Simple but stylish and effective.
Montenegro totally blew it. The lack of choreography and the lack of dancers is going to be very costly. High school performance vibes.
Pojavis is way out of his comfort zone. Really nervous and tense.
I hope Lanskaya blews the live vocals because that song could not possibly be any more cheap and trashy.
Moldova's presentation is fantastic and so are the live vocals. Why did you useless bitches not vote for this song to go through to the final? Honestly.
Ireland's presentation is terrible. The cheap Celtic patterns? Seriously? And the leather daddy costume? Why? It's a shame because his vocals are fantastic. Backing singers really suck, though.
Despina looks beautiful and sings well. Shame the song is so boring.
Serbia's costumes are shockingly bad. Fortunately they have kept the WTF choreography after all. Good vocals, should easily sail through to the final.
You remember when the camera zoomed way out when Tatu were about to kiss in order to spare the viewers from this shocking happening?
Times have move on, fortunately, and EBU has given a green light to Krista kissing one of her female background singers, which is her expression of support for gay marriage in Finland and everywhere else in the world (and attention whoring obv).
Second semi-final rehearsals have started.
I thought Iceland was dead in the water but the presentation of the song is beautiful, very professional and he has good stage presence. I think it's going to qualify.
Elitsa fell over behind the drums during the rehearsal. When they said they are aiming to place top 5 again, the journalists laughed.
I hate the Azeri song but the presentation is extremely strong. Great concept behind it, it's different, interesting and continues to capture your attention. It's going to do very well, for sure.
Monetta is bringing the drama. Top 10 in the final I hope!
Really? I'll be surprised if it's Top 10 in the semi.
Semi 2 rehearsals are done:
I'm almost rooting for it now but not quite. I'm disappointed that Norway is the same as the national final. I wanted a new dress.
nooooo! Valentina must be a top 10 qualifier in the final! we need more divas who bring DRAMA!
Thanks for the links!
The stage looks great and there will (definitely) be voids. Hopefully that will make up for the barrage of blah ballads.
The Romanian rehearsal clip is brilliant--truly non-stop WTF. And the choreography appears to have been done by Mr. G from Summer Heights High.
Romanian performance is going to be such a hot mess. I'm not sure whether it's so bad it's good or whether it's just really shit but edging towards the latter. Apparently his rehearsal sparked a lot of laughter as well as looks of disgust in the press room.
Fortunately so far Switzerland's performances have been reported to have been a bit of a chaotic mess. The old guy seems lost and confused.
Georgian rehearsals are reported to have left very strong impressions and journalists have been talking about a possible win for Georgia. Please no. I don't want another shitty dull ballad like "Believe" or "Running Scared" winning. I hate Denmark but it's definitely preferable to Azerbaijani or Georgian pudding.
Random news: Carola is going to be one of the Interval Act performances during the final (WHY?!! ).
The Belarussan delegation has brought in a lot of vodka for their party but since they'd have to pay around 40k euro customs for it, they are going to serve Absolut instead.
Vocally it's being reported as being very strong. The presentation has a surprise element (there's something hidden under her dress that she slowly reveals, there is a costume change and wind machines). I think it should qualify all right.
I have also wanted more but that straitjacket dress is absolutely incredible and fits the song perfectly. I understand them adding the sparkle onto it because it's such a huge stage but it made it look quite cheap.
She has fantastic stage presence. Hopefully it will be enough. I would really love Norway to win. Can't imagine Denmark losing though.
A good song?
So has everyone voted yet? I'm predicting that Norway will be FSU's winner.
I'm still waiting on about 10 voters, so hopefully most of them will have their votes to me by the end of today.
