Exactly... It wasn't Morozov who improved Miki's consistency. It was her work with Chris Conte prior to goint to Morozov that helped.

Morozov doesn't need "an opening". He sees. He wants. He counquer.

Maybe it's the reason for Elene's hair color this season :EVILLE:

He's such a weird case, because while his off-ice behavior is loathsome, when it comes to skating and coaching he has great insight, and, especially if you were a guy, without any of lecherous crap, his group sounds like a comfortable and positive place to be, as opposed to coaches who are difficult, abusive, etc. but skaters stay with them because the coaches have been successful.

From the interview posted by quiqie in the "From Russia with Love" thread:

Kudriatsev: "All Morozov's athletes have better skating technique and accurately calculated biomechanical movements. It allows them to keep very high speed on ice even when they do very difficult steps and step sequences. Audience doesn't think why some athletes skate faster than others. It's all technique. Feet, knees, ankles, foot position toward the ice surface, the pressure...Judging by the exercises that Nicholai gives to his students, I see that he works on all these details, rather than just the edges."

Morosov: "I'm really glad that [because of that] I had one month to work with Sergei Voronov. I'm glad, in general, that he didn't get on the team in this season and we were able to work peacefully. Had he got to compete at Europeans and Worlds he would perhaps still believe that everything was alright. This way, he realized that something had gone wrong. Sergei started to pay attention to many things he never thought about before."

    and

"I keep a free group atmosphere, I don't pressure anybody, don't lecture them. If someone don't understand something, I'd better put them in such conditions that they finally realize it, rather than yell at a student a hundred times a day. It's pointless to try to get results from someone who does not understand why they need it."

Thanks for correcting me. I should have said "his team" instead.

Yes, because people have nothing better to do than to follow your posts around and make snarky replies to them

Really, Morozov's pattern of love-them-and-leave-them is pretty well documented and is not something that people here are making up or just repeating.

I actually started a thread asking why people hate Morozov awhile ago, and I got a lot of good replies even though not quite the clear answers I was looking for. It's in the trash can a few pages back, but I'm too lazy to get the link.

His behavior to Wife #1 and Wife #2 in 'loving and leaving' them (#1 with baby) and serial girlfriends during and after marriages is part of it. Also his ranting at Bompard a couple of years ago (find it in the archives for yourself) are another part of why he is considered despicable by many.

I've always had soft spot for Elene, and if he messes with her, well, he needs to be blacklisted.

Well, I don't like him, but hopefully this means she can actually land more than 3 triple jumps per FS.

For more than a year and a half.

September 2009 Japan Times Article About the Rumors

However, as mentioned in the article, he's been coaching her since February 2006. :shuffle:

Besides his sexual history mentioned upthread, there's this:

Is Miki Ando's skating coach a Japan hater?

     :scream:

I'm kind of happy that Elene decided to do something different, but I'm just wishing she hadn't chosen Morozov.

Has Morozov ever had an adult female pupil who he didn't date? That is the question, imo.

i read somewhere that during a competition (whose name escapes me), the eurosports commentators said, on air, that javier is dating miki, but that's not even third hand info :)

um, maybe she didn't have the option.

I don't think Morozov and Marchei ever dated.

I have the impression that Elena´s career is at the point, where it does not matter much who might be her coach.

He's a complete fckwad. I still  at the fact that he asked me outside for a fight, TWICE!!!!!!! in the one night.

Having said that, Gedevanishvili promised a lot in 2006, 5 years later she has completely stagnated and he may well help her given that she does actually have the tools to be a champion. He seems to be great at instilling self belief and confidence and that's exactly what Elena needs, IMHO.
