Like this so far. Interesting concept.
Me too. Really good so far and I like all the pros too. How long is this going to run? I think each pro has two singers if they eliminate one a week (none this week) then 8 weeks? Right up till the olympics.
And not much in the way of bad auditions.
I'm always amazed how much Robin Thicke looks like his dad.
I only tuned in in time to see John Legend perform "Ordinary People" with a hulking football player with a great voice. Can anyone fill me in on what I missed?
ETA: Robin Thicke searching for a partner/teammate. I love the sound of Robin's voice and his songs. Unfortunately, his lyrics tend to be kind of stupid. He chooses a young lady named Olivia Chisolm. They're performing "Lost Without You."
A really good guy who sang with Jennifer Nettles. He's currently in the lead.
Robin and Olivia need a room. That is excellent chemistry on stage.
rfisher, I think the show will run for 9 weeks. If I'm understanding correctly, there will be no eliminations. Everyone gets to stay to the end.
OMG! I didn't know this was on!
Is it one or two hours?
Excellet! I guess they score points each week to determine the winner? So far, I want to hear everybody sing more. I'm just imagining how this format would have been with the Voice mentors. Adam, Xtina, Blake and Ceelo singing each week.
Kelly's boy was the weakest of the 4. He sings well, but is holding back. Maybe he'll get better.
Also, their accents are different but otherwise their voices are almost identical.
The episode is 2 hours.
Kelly Clarkson and her partner, Jason Farol sing a song that I probably should recognize but don't. They land in 4th place.
John Legend chooses Bridget Carrington as his second teammate. They sing "Tonight."
My only criticism of the show is that the arrangements so far have all been a bit dull. I get that it's supposed to be all about the singing, but it's comes off kind of like really good karaoke.
Robin already setting the scene for a fantasy bromance with John. He definitely watched The Voice.
Some of these duets are This makes AI songs look like kiddies.
Jennifer picks John Glosson (from her very own hometown.) They sing "Stay." It's really good. Lands them in 3rd place.
Jennifer's boys are smoking the competition.
jennifer's john was my favorite so far
Robin and Alexis Foster perform "Magic." Finally something uptempo.
Robin/Olivia were better together.
Can someone explain how the placements are determined?
The three pros not singing rank the duet. I think.
Kelly and Jordan Meredith perform "Stronger."
Kelly's girl was great. They sounded really good together.
1. J Rome (Jennifer)
2. Johnny Gray (John)
3. Alexis Foster (Robin)
4. John Glosson (Jennifer)
5. Olivia Chisolm (Robin)
6. Bridget Carrington (John)
7. Jordan Meredith (Kelly)
8. Jason Farol (Kelly)
I am watching now after recording it. Go Kelly, go!!!!
I started recording with Kelly and the Jason guy. That was boring, and Kelly's outfit was Kelly is NOT a big girl by any means. She's not a stick, but she's at most a size ten, but her clothes make her look bigger and mishapen. She's a pretty girl; why does she dress like a doudy dominatrix?
Bridget and John Legend were So were her shoes. It's nice to see adults singing adult songs.
Kelly's girl is the weakest singer of the bunch or maybe she was just super nervous. I think Jason is an amazing singer but again, he is super super nervous. Kelly is not going to win with either of those two, I don't know why she didn't find a confident singer as one of her picks. This show was great, though. Such high quality. Even the worst were so far better than a lot of the other shows. Of course, dueting with superstars probably helps.
I am curious how Jennifer will do when they don't sing their own songs. She had a big advantage this week since her catalogue is full of duets as it is.
But "Stay" definitely wasn't a duet when Sugarland did it. I think it speaks to how great she and her partner were that they made it work as a duet.
I saw Jennifer on the CMT Reba and Lionel Richie tributes singing their songs .. she was fabulous. I'm not a huge Sugarland fan, but I think Jennifer could sign just about anything.
By the way, did Robin Thicke rub anyone else the wrong way? (no smart comments!!) He comes across a little cocky for my liking and I wonder if it was just him being silly and joking or if he has a big ego.
Have a listen to Sugarland's "Live on the Inside". They do covers of Pearl Jam, the B52s, and a couple of other acts (in addition to their own songs), and it all rocks.
I loved her singing Springsteen in his KenCen tribute. But I don't like Sugarland songs. I forgot to tape this. Boo
