I finished re-watching Season 3 last night, so I'm ready now. Only 5 more sleeps!
Thanks for mentioning it. I will have to put it on my calendar.
So looking forward to Sunday!
i managed to stay unspoiled. it was a struggle.
Good for you. I couldn't but I'm still waiting for Sunday.
I've stayed unspoiled. Since this is the PBS thread, I hope people don't put spoilers in here.
Don't count on it. Someone in the season three PBS thread wasn't paying attention and posted a bunch of spoilers of this upcoming season. I'm still pissed off about it.
Artemis - Any chance you can put something like "spoiler free" in an edited title?
I'm spoiled but I still can't wait!

‘Downton Abbey’ Returns to PBS

[NOTE: I didn't spot any spoilers; general mentions of the new characters and the direction of the story on Season 4.]
Too much time has elapsed for me to edit the title -- can the mods do it for us?
I had hoped that the "PBS" in the title would be enough but of course it doesn't hurt to be clearer for the benefit of us who have remained spoiler-free thus far. (And it wasn't easy, with all the previews that PBS has been throwing at us!)
This thread is for those watching on the PBS broadcast schedule in North America (beginning January 5, 2014).
Please, no spoilers from those who watched an earlier UK broadcast or online.
You can rely on me not to post any 'spoilers' .
Thanks for the reminder! I need to set my DVR. I became a fan earlier in the year and am all caught up. I'm so upset with how last season ended (tragic ) but I'm excited to see what's going to happen.
(The link above takes you to small article that has two internal links...one to an audio interview and one to an Atlantic article.)
Between Downton Abbey and the Bengals playoff game, my Sunday is booked up. Getting excited.
MASTERPIECE | Downton Abbey, Season 4: Mary's Journey | PBS
w/Julian Fellowes and Michelle Dockery
Not spoiling anything here.. tonight I attended a free preview put on my the local PBS station (Connecticut CPTV in Hartford). There was a free preview @ 5pm, or there was some ball and preview that cost $250 - good fundraising idea. I went with the freebie.... For the freebie they served champagne and popcorn! It was only 1 hour and they stated at the beginning to still watch Sunday pm and set your dvr for 90 minutes - but my tv says 2 hours. I will record 2 hours - will not be home - will be in Boston!
Not spoiling, but I did enjoy it. There were at least 100 + people there. It was fun watching with a crowd, and some of the reactions were fun. I did find out they did this last year - so main reason I am posting is to share and see if anything like that goes on in your area for next year.
my pbs station hosted a season finale, it was really fun. some people came in costume.
Funny or Die did a hilarious spoof of an american crime show with Lady Mary.
My favorite part is about the maid.
Anxiously awaiting. Love this program.
A little fun while we wait. I'm the Dowager!
Funny! I am Mr Bates!! Lol
Cast, creator address big changes at the Abbey

This is really funny, too!
P.S. I'm the Dowager in that survey!
I'm Lady Edith: "Who cares that youre not in the spotlight? You can write, you can drive, and you are more attractive than you give yourself credit for." Sounds about right!
I am Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham - “This my shit, bow down, bitches.”
EDIT: Someone crocheted the cast...too cute!
Looking forward to tonight! Quick question though- I watched seasons 1-3 on Netflix, which I believe were the UK version (~1hr episodes). I thought I heard somewhere that PBS reworks the original versions into fewer, longer episodes but cut out content in the process. Is this true? Are we missing anything by watching on PBS?
I got the Dowager...pretty accurate I think!
I can't wait until tonight!
