Tauno the cat was watching the last night´s episode (we are in season 4 here in Finland) and when Maggie Smith said another wonderful one-liner and I bursted to laugh, he got scared and run away. I really like how they develop her character in season 4.

Thank you dardar1126. I like your posts really but sometimes I wish someone else will contribute :p I am looking forward to the new season but really Mary's next phase of suitors is neither as suspenseful nor as high stakes as the first time around in season one. She can happily leave out the rest of her life as a widow and mother of the future Earl and nothing will change with the estate as long as the current Earl is alive.

Thank YOU, tamuno, for contributing! :D I (or another Downton fan) will probably start a new thread in advance of the January premiere on PBS; then the comments will begin anew.

I think you've posted this before. Have you seen the new season?

I was disillusioned after the events of last season not just Matthew dying but Thomas's resolution was vomit-inducing. But Matthew's demise shook things in a fundamental way. I have seen the new season ( and loved it) but I'm still eagerly waiting for January.

Yes, the loss of beloved characters like Matthew and Sybil are hard to take. But the losses also provide new story opportunities, and new characters to shake things up.

Thanks for all the links! Can someone come up with a creative subtitle for the "Downton Abbey Season 4 on PBS" thread? :D

    That's GOOD! :)

I saw that listed...sounds interesting. :watch:

    EDIT:

The Marquess of Bath seems like rather an odd character...to say the least! :hat1:

And the Fulford heir seems like a bit of a brat...didn't come across as very likeable imo. Hard to believe that primogeniture is still a thing in the 21st century!

I liked the Duke of Argyll and his wife...seemed sensible and down-to-earth.

I liked the Downton/Highclere parts the most, and all the historical information about the aristocracy in the 19th/early 20th centuries.

Do the Carnarvons have children? I have seen them interviewed 3 times since DA became such a hit but kids are never mentioned. I wonder who inherents if he dies without heirs.

Did you spot him at the table during the shooting lunch scene of the Season 2 Christmas special? He also appeared in Season 4. Let me know if/when you spot him.
