Meditation is a very broad term that covers many different practices, philosophies, disciplines, and sometimes faiths (though most of the ones I know of are not religious). Do you practice meditation and what kind (or did in the past)? How long have you been doing it? Here is a short list of the ones I am familiar with (some more closely than others): Zen (Sato and Rinzai traditions) Yoga (not the exercises/postures) Vipassana Tibetan Transcendental Sufi (I think this may be religious but I am not sure) That's all I can think of right now. I am sure there are many more meditation techniques. They all seem to bring about positive changes, mentally and physiologically. Some research has been done, but I think this field has not been explored a whole lot. Please note: Relaxation techniques are not really meditation techniques though after meditation one can feel peaceful and relaxed at times. I am also curious to find out what meditation means to different people. I am sure there are many definitions and ideas about it.
