Final Classroom Champions video of the school year
Very cool article about how Meryl and Charlie inspired world junior pairs champions Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier.
What a great compliment!!
And I love John's comments about how it was to work with Berezhnaya and Sikharulidze. I wish more pairs would pay attention to stroking and speed.
Time for some DJ. This slayed me.
I also loved hearing about Aliona and Robin. They aren't media fans, so this is nice. Robin mature and calm? Not really a shocker from the man who agreed and performed in stride to Barbie Girl. Something tells me that wasn't his first choice .
It will be nice to see their FD, knowing they took pointers from Meryl and Charlie. I'll try not to hold it against her that her sister is Caydee. I feel like Maxim and Tatiana, more so Maxim, could work on their basic skating skills too.
What is wrong with Maxim's basic skating skills?
Meryl vacation fun with Tanith, Brooke Castile, and Lauren Senft (posted by Tanith on Twitter)
Meryl's bikini is so cute. That is some trademark Meryl purple.
Derek Hough choreographed a great quickstep (and an amazing free style) for Kellie Pickler last night. How long until Skate America again?
Speaking of which, did anyone identify which lift from Meryl & Charlie did Derek use for Kellie? Which dance was it in (I have to confess I haven't been following DWTS very closely this season).
This is probably complete nonsense, but I saw this comment under this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2auou58sUa0
Or wore lavender pleather or a very wild psychedelic unitard. Or a clown costume.
I can see Derek choreographing the short dance. I think that's almost a given at this point.
I agree; it's the other bit to be taken with a grain of salt.
That was posted as a joke suggestion on Goldenskate a few weeks ago
Good to know!
I did think Goodbye, Lenin! was a bit on the nose for Sochi.
I don't see how those two pieces would even go together. Isn't the Goodbye Lenin soindtrack by Tiresome?
It is by Yann Tiersen, the same composer as Amelie. And no the two couldn't fit together.
I hate autocorrect.
I was watching the Quickstep that Derek performed with Kellie Pickler. Man I'm getting excited. I can't wait to see the SD.
FSGMT was nice enough to translate what the Italian commentators, Scali, Bianconi, & Secondini, had to say about Meryl & Charlie's FD at Worlds
Look at how beautiful they're, even in the interpretation... He really, as Massimo [Scali] said before, talks with his body, his whole body talks and "tells" the music, and even in the technical moves, when he has to "handle" her, look at how many transitions when he's able to be elegant and precise...
I love that. Too many people overlook what Charlie does because his facial expression wasn't as consistent or strong as Meryl's. But he has always, always embraced every story they tell with his body. He's so dynamic.
Totally agree! I am very much a Meryl fangirl but Charlie got me hooked on this team back in 2007 when I saw them for the first time. I just loved the way he moved on the ice, his power and energy. But boy has he ever improved since then...his power and speed now is incredible, its amazing that Meryl can keep up but she sure does! With all their power and speed they still manage to be emotional and as was said, elegant and precise. They are of course, loved by US fans but I always enjoy the international love for them, too.
Thanks for the link to the translations Doris!
One of my favorite D/W performances
That one gets me every time, especially the hug at the end.
A poster on GSD mentioned that this coming season will be D/W's last. I hadn't heard that Meryl and Charlie were planning to retire.
It is being assumed that D/W will retire after the Olympic season but, IMO, they are not likely to announce their decision for a while yet. They've certainly earned the right to retire after the Olympic season, if that's what they want.
I think the poster on GSD said "IF this is their last season In interviews they have said that they are leaving it open to seeing how much more they want to do in the sport, or something like that.
