One advantage to classical week - the singers shouldn't be very active.

Actually, this is pretty funny.....and someone must have skated to it.

LOL! It's the Four Seasons, yes, a few people skated to it!

    Canon in D - I feel like I'm at a wedding

Mark should have worn a shirt, I really can't judge a Rhumba because it's so slow.....sounds like it was good. Katherine's beautiful.

Does Bruno really expect them to generate raunchy heat to Canon in D?

I didn't mind the dance so much, although I never would have put a Rhumba to Canon in D. Shirtless Mark seemed kind of out of place. :scream:

i know she tries but melissa is the opposite of musical

Melissa took on a lot with that Argetine Tango, which looked and sounded like anything but. The first lift looked really hard. It was messy in the second half. Oh, no, Maks is going to be super pissed at Carrie Ann's criticisms.

There were some moves in that dance that looked like a parody you might see on I Love Lucy.

I wished she got to dance with Val instead... or at least use his choreography. That looked terrible.

I remember the episode where Lucy danced with a dummy that was supposed to make Ricky jealous....I think it was a Tango.

Anyway, William had beautiful music for his V. Waltz, but he staggers. Maybe I watch too much skating, but I wished he had worn a lighter colored or even white suit. Carrie Ann is overdoing the praise, IMO.

How is Bad Romance classical just because it's the orchestra version?

    Thanks GK.

I didn't like Roshon's Argentine Tango, he barely moved, and I guess it's Chelsie's fault.

I'd venture a guess that someone skated to this. Johnny?

Roshon didn't do anything. Chelsea kinda used him for a swing or a pole.

I'm wondering about the wardrobe malfunction also. So far have not been wowed tonight. Wonder why Mak is putting Melissa through so much. Just doesn't look right, I can hardly watch it. Mark should keep his shirt on. OK so I did like Donald and Peta dance. It was fun.

Donald wasn't as flat-footed as usual in his Vienese Waltz, but his footwork is weird. Judges love a football player. I liked the lighter moments.

I wonder if it will kick into the high speed version like all the skating programs.

Maria's Paso Doble was excellent, I didn't even pay attention to the vampire stuff. Should get some 10s.

I liked that dance, but I thought she sat on the floor a little too long while Derek danced around her.

Jaleel got a good vocal to accompany his Viennese Waltz, but he has no real elegance. Let the judges deal with it.

I thought that dance was spellbinding, the best of the season I've seen. I know Derek is not so popular but I really like Maria.

(ETA, sorry, I'm a bit delayed.)

    So far:

Can we just give Katherine the trophy and be done with it?

Donald should have outscored William on the VW. Nice use of fog to hide that William never took a freakin' heel in the ENTIRE THING.

Uh...was that the theme to Downton Abbey Jaleel just danced to?

When they showed the little clip of last week's dance off, I thought how brave Gladys was to try to do a dance off against Rashon, who could be her grandson.
This is one very big reason why adult skate competitions have various age divisions! You can see it much more clearly in the side by side comparison like that - even with someone as youthful as Gladys. She was very, very classy on that show.

I don't really care for the dance off at this point anyway. It's about who viewers want to see continue on dancing + judges scores. Sometimes, I wish they'd keep everyone on longer and just do periodic vote tallying to remove a group.

Real pro-am ballroom (the only kind that's comparable to this) are split by age, too. You're permitted to "dance down" if you want, but not up.

Oh, NO. NOT THE DARK WALTZ. PLEASE MAKE THE OVERPLAYED WALTZ STOP.

(However, Congrats, DWTS, you've got a guest performing a real ballroom song.)

I enjoyed Team Tango's whole routine, with Jaleel being the weak link. I don't agree with Len.

Carmina Burana....Team Paso did well, but I preferred Team Tango. Will there be an advantage to going second?

Yeah, the fog was really unfair. It was an obvious cover for poor feet. No one else had fog. They shouldn't allow it!

Loved Maria's, though the vampire theme to R&J was a bit weird, and I agree that she sat a bit too long, but I don't mind the 30.

And speaking of weird theme, why was Mark a gladiator or whatever to Canon in D? My mom and I both thought a bride and groom wedding theme, which is what one thinks of for that song, would have been perfect - isn't the rumba supposed to be kind of like the lead up to sex? Well, they could have done the lead up to the wedding night...

Don't get the scores for William. He was very stiff and his steps were weird lengths, which made it look like he was waddling through it. Also, side note, Jackie Evancho freaks me out (and not in a good way). Has since the first time I saw her on AGT.

Both team dances were sloppy. I did love Roshon's vindication - he was the last one picked to be on a team, but he basically got his team the scores. I was confused about Len loving his tango solo, though, since he and Chelsie broke hold in the middle of it, and Len is always very 'don't break hold in the tango!!'

The horrible tenor was totally off-beat during the entire Team Paso round.
