Garmin's neo-pro Jack Bobridge gets his first pro win at Eneco. And Matt Goss gets the win at Plouay. With such an abundance of talent, the Aussies had some hard choices to make regarding the Worlds team, and it appears Robbie McEwen didn't make the team for the "home country Worlds".

Leipheimer wins the Tour of Utah, despite not having any teammates in the race (athough the Trek Livestrong team was probably fairly friendly). He rode it in honor of his friend, who used to be the executive director of the race, who died last year from cancer.

Not entirely confirmed, but it has been rumored for a few days:
    Garmin-Cervelo emerges for 2011

I think this is great for Hushovd. He can finally really concentrate on the classics and leave the green jersey chase to Ferrar. :)

Lots of :drama: lately between Cervelo folding and not telling the riders until oh...two days ago. Garmin riding on Cervelos. Countries announcing their entries for Worlds, Rumours about Team Lux and of course the Vuelta starts tomorrow.

:cheer2: To Tony Martin for winning the Eneco Tour in STYLE! :cheer2:

With the demise of Team Sexy Back as we know it is Columbia going to become Team HoTtieC representin' with Martin, Eisel and Renshaw? (I am sorry, I just can't think of cav is hot.)

I think Cav is kind of hot in a Russell Crowe-type cantankerous brawler kind of way.

Team Saxo Bank is now Team Saxo Bank-Sungard, and Cancellara is still on the team, so.....still Team Sexy Back.

Lots of :drama: about McEwen not making the Worlds team for Australia, but I'm more annoyed at their not picking Renshaw. :mitchell: The course has been touted as a sprinters course, but Australia has clearly indicated they don't think the race will end in a bunch sprint.

Andy has said he won't ride Worlds, which leaves the Lux team a little light on riders.

It will be interesting to see where the cards fall with CTT folding. Luckily there are some new teams hiring so I'd hope most of them will end up somewhere good.

We can still count on Liquigas bringing the hotitude (and hair products), but rumors have Bennati going to the new Team Lux which is definitely a loss to their hot ranking.

Cancellara is reportedly eager to not ride with Sexy Back next year, but he's got a contract for next year that he can't buy his way out of, and Riis has said he's not interested in trading Cancellara.

Me too. FSU LURRRVES RENSHAW DO NOT DENY US! :wuzrobbed of hotness. ahem. sorry. However a lot of peoplem including Bettini thinks it will not be a bunch sprint. Course is suited more for someone like Freire, Haussler, LL Sanchez (still injured, not) racing) etc.

Fly V Austrialia is looking for a Pro Tour Liscense and will be at least 50% Aussie One of the CTT riders I would miss is Aussie Brett Lancaster if he does not get signed. :( I am sure he will land somewhere. Kinda messed up of CTT to announce this at the END of transfer season.

    Pippo and Bennatti :glamor:

Yeah, I get the feeling Spartacus does not want to ride for Contaor. Plus he lost his fellow classics men O'Grady and Breshel. Not that he needs help to crush the cobbles but still.

After all the hoopla about giving up his German passport and choosing to ride for Australia, Haussler isn't on the Worlds team either. His camp says he's still injured and removed himself from consideration

Australia's Pegasus team is targeting Hushovd, Lancaster and Haussler

Ooops, sorry for the double post.

I read CN, but not usually the forums. I tend to stick with Podium Cafe for cycling forums/blogs.

I can't find an English article, but Thor Hushovd confirmed after today's Vuelta stage that he has signed a contract with Garmin for next year.

He'll bring with him the best classics riders from Cervelo, and said his biggest goal is to win a big Classic next season and the Worlds. He said on Friday he wants to do that before he tries winning a third Green jersey.

    Good news! :cheer2:

Hmm, it will be interesting to see how Tyler and Thor get along together, but I like Thor, so I'm glad he'll be at the big races next year.

ETA: Article on Bicycling website about the impact of Cervelo's folding on the Garmin riders and who might be affected by new riders coming in.

I actually don't think it will be a problem with both Tyler and Thor in the same team. Thor has hinted he might not even ride the Tour next season, and if he does, he will not chase the green jersey.

Today his personal trainer said "Thor is not a sprinter anymore. All the training he's done towards the Classics have taken away so much time and focus from the sprint training."

He is at a crossroads now and really wants to focus on the Classics and the trainer also pointed out Freire didn't race the Tour when he won his World titles. Neither did Bettini those 2 years he won Worlds, so they are at least considering that scenario.

I wonder how the Norwegian public will react if he's not in Vendee on July 2nd next year. It will be a blow for most people, who are only interested in the Tour. Personally, I want him to have at least a big Classics win before he retires. He's wasted too many years (read at C.A.) not fulfilling the immense potential he had already 10 years ago.

Both Saxo Bank and Garmin looking very different next season.

    :(

I will always remember 1989. I was totally cheering for LeMond, but in recent years, I'd really come to appreciate Fignon.

Garmin signs a bunch more Cervelo riders including Lancaster and Haussler. A number of existing Garmin riders can't be comfortable with their contract status given the number of CTT riders coming over. Tom Danielson better hope he gets some results at the Vuelta.

BMC also has a bunch of new signings including the always fun Quinziato.

and Trek was announced as the bike supplier for Andy and Frank's new team.

Here is the REAL reason why the CTT riders went to Garmin. (yes, I added the captions)

Although, I have a weakness for gingers. And argyle. So I think Farrar is cute when he makes good hair choices. (Even though, you know, Cav 4 Eva or something.) I have to ask though, is there really anyone cute on Team Sky? Because I think I'd like them better if there was. ;)

I do think Tylar has hottie potential. And um...I wouldn't kick Dave Z outta bed either. I was mostly joking about Garmin being the ugliest team in the peloton. I was gonna say that title goes to Euskatel but they do have Sammy Sanchez...Need to do more research ;) I hope that we see Black/Red/White argyle next year. Tho the orange and blue does stand out.

Hotties on Team Sky???? WHAT?? How could you miss Boassen Hagen.

For some reason most of the (good) pics (I can find) of him are from when he was on Columbia.

He is also Norweigian TT champ. Yes, he is riding a time trial on a road bike. (Thor is RR champ) I think disallowed TT bikes at Tour of Quatar or some other small stage race? Who knows.

Cav needs to get Cav 4 ever jersies made up, just like Vino did

It's really hard to hate Vino when he's so entertainingly outrageous.

I cannot get over the Vino-4-ever jersey. It takes a special kind of chutzpah to pull that off.

All these team sponsors switching around has left me with a confusing backlog of cycling team names in my brain. When I heard yesterday about "armed man holding hostages at Discovery Channel" my kneejerk reaction was, "Holy crap, Lance Armstrong finally snapped under the pressure."

Bruyneel did tweet that he was glad all "their friends at Discovery were safe", but I don't think Lance mentioned the incident.

ESPN article about the Andreus and the Lance investigation.

Phinney has been discussing possible moves for next year saying both BMC and Team Schleck (name to be announced) are interested. He commented that he's interested in the "long term" and noted Radio Shack only has a one year commitment left (and there were apparently some whispers at the Tour of Utah that even next year might not be certain.)

If he knew you had called him a hottie, he would crawl under the bed and stay there for a good while, I think. He's so terribly shy.

Just saw him on TV a few minutes ago. He has started "Operation Stay Another Year" to get Kurt Asle Arvesen to stay for another year as a pro. He had cut off his mullet (finally) and looked good. :)

I tried linking to a funny interview Bradley Wiggins did with Boasson H. during the Tour but it was geo-blocked. Here it is on Youtube. "not a great entertainer is young Edvald", pretty much sums it up. :D

Sorry, sorry, sometimes I forget people if they haven't been thrown on my TV and talked about to a long extent. Perhaps this is why I wish Wiggins were hot. They talked about him a ton. He might as well be nice to look at.

You know, Cav is a pretty big fan of Cav. But maybe not as much as Vino is a big fan of Vino.

yeah, I've read some interviews with him asking him how he felt about being a rishing star in cycling. He seems very "meh...yeah. I ride bikes. So what?" I wish I could tell if he was being funny in a dry way or is just like that. NOthing wrong with being shy tho :) I'll watch the vid when I get home from work.

TG, you should read Boy Racer. Cav's book. It's light and fluffy (got thru it in a day) but it's good stuff. Esp if you are a fan. Yeah, Wigo looks about 45. What happened?

If I only had 3 million Euros ;)

Australian cycling blog started a contest for pictures taken by cell phones that relate to a cycling theme ("what you missed this morning"). A few pro riders, including FSU fave Mark Renshaw, got in on the fun and started sending pics.

Here are the first set of pictures from contestants, with a separate category at the bottom for the pros.

oh cool! I take pics all the time when I am out riding :) You see totally different thing on a bike then in a car. I almost posted one of my race pictures here, but I felt silly.

itsartemis, I watched that video with Edvald. Awwww, he's so shy!! Poor thing look terrified of the camera. When Wiggo was like "do you want to say anything to your people" I was expecting him to start speaking in Norwegian (norsk?) but he kept speaking in english. He looked like he wanted to go hide. awww. :saint:

These are really cool pictures! Thank you for the link.

He is almost just as shy when he's speaking Norwegian. When he came to the scene, we were thinking he'd get used to it, but it really does not seem like he'll ever do that. He's the most uncharismatic athlete we have, but we still love him a lot, what's not to love - his cycling is fantastic! :D

And yes, it is norsk. :)

See, I think this is Cav's problem, really. Because even once the tour de france was over and they were doing there victory lap, and even though Renshaw wasn't even in the race any more, Cav was still following Renshaw when I saw them. Clearly it is hard for Cav to go places if he doesn't have Renshaw's butt to follow. (BTW if there are any "following Renshaw around" positions open, I am available)

(Which reminds me, I forgot to mention this earlier because it took me a while to get them uploaded, if anyone wants to see my TdF final stage pictures, just PM me. I just didn't want to post the link to my facebook where everyone could see.)

Pippo Pozzato's blog at Cyclingnews talks about the Vuelta, his tax investigation and Worlds, althought it's this paragraph that made me chuckle.
