Chock/Zuerlein are listed in USFS' 2011-12 Team A envelope that was published today, so an official announcement of a split has not happened at this time.

ETA: The C/Z split rumor was originally mentioned and discussed in the US Dance thread in the Trash Can last week: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?t=78833&page=4

Greg's facebook suggests they might have split (it's public so anyone can find him), but it's not certain

Maybe there's a plan for a teaming of Chock and Poirier? ;)

omg, no. Don't even think it.

I really hope their split is just a rumor. But I've found that on FSU, where there is smoke, there usually is fire.:(

Now there's an idea! She has lots of personality (and is not very tall)...might be interesting.

Has this actually been confirmed yet? There has been no release thru USFS, and it has been talked/rumoured about before C/P split.

Well Greg's facebook says something about moving on to a new phase in life, I can't remember the exact words, but it's not actually stated specifically what that is.

could it be a coaching change and thus moving to another area?

It could mean a variety of things. I'll wait for the official announcement

Or, new chapter in life as the top three of US. I did not see it as C/Z split.

Since Michelle Kwan hasn't been brought up in this thread :D, we can interpret "a new chapter in life" as a rip off of Michelle's first iteration of Scherezade when she still had some choreography of opening a book. :p (It's the off season.)

lol it can be that too

Scherezade can be a nice idea to an ice dance program, no? I don1t remember any ice dance team using it, or i'm wrong? (probably ;))

Judy Blumberg & Michael Seibert, 1983-84 season comes to mind...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyfosI-IcYY

There was a controversy over their music choice at the time.

As a long-time fan of Blumberg & Seibert (how can you resist a guy who choreographs the programs, designs & makes the costumes, and is a great dancer???), I have a vivid memory of the '84 Olympics "controversy". The Americans placed 4th [again]--and the lead judge was interviewed for ABC.

She sited the rule AT THE TIME--that a change in music rhythm was mandatory & required a one point deduction. Tracy Wilson observed that T&D 's Bolero didn't meet that requirement. Judge's reply---"They're T& D--THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT."

At this point, my mom went ballistic -- "she admitted they cheated!!!!" very memorable moment. I also recall the ISU's swift action: no member of the judging panel could be interviewed after a competition.

Aww that is to bad. I will miss this team. Wishing both of them the best. I am hoping it is not to difficult for Madison to find a new partner.

I really liked this team and am sad to see them split, but I'm sure Greg thought about it a lot and made the best decision for him. I wish him the best as he moves on to the next phase of his life and I hope Madison can find a good partner and compete next season.

Teams usually have legitimate reasons for splitting, though. Since they're the ones who are training with each other day in and day out and setting/revising their respective goals each season, I think fans' opinions are not going to be taken into serious consideration. :p

Not to mention weighing the expense and time involved and their likely future placement against D/W, S/S (two World medalist teams) and a returning S/B, I can understand this decision. They had a great season, got to Worlds, I can understand him wanting to go out on a high note and get on with life. Yes, we'd love them to stick with it, but it's not our money and lives here.

The Hubbell brother retired, right? That's tough, two top ladies looking for new partners at the same time.

From the Hubbells' May 12, 2011 USFS press release: Keiffer Hubbell "is exploring his options, both on and off the ice."
