Gone With the Wind, Les Mis, and now Titanic? O&W need to really expand beyond movie themes.
Titanic was Mark Pillay's idea, and I'm interested in seeing what he comes up with for them. She's a bold skater, and I think it could work for them.
I tend to feel the same way as manhn, but since someone else is doing the choreo I will keep an open mind for now. With the previous years' programs in mind, skating to Titanic is very one dimensional. Where's the diversity of style? Where's the substance? Perhaps Mark will bring something interesting, however, so let's wait and see before rolling the eyes any further. (But seriously, I would LOVE to see some diversity, maturity and orginality in music choice and choreography out of the talented crew in BC. The musical and movie schmaltz with dance-by-numbers programs need a rest.) Paul/Islam always seem to come up with something interesting and not over-used, and Paradis/Ouillet had a fabulous FD last season. There's a whole world of music out there, and so many ways to bring innovation, dance and art to COP.
Paradis/Ouellette's FD last season was to "Godfather," so it's possible to create a great program to movie soundtracks that have been used by other skaters.
It was Edwards & Pang who used Les Mis last year. O&W's FD was Love Never Dies, and I think the general consensus was that it wasn't a great music choice.
Movie score or not, I love the music from Titanic (even though I hate the movie itself), so I'm looking forward to seeing what Pillay does with it and with them.

Wow. I hope that VM stay for a year or two. A different inspiration could be very special for them.
I would love, love, love to see what Dubreuil, Lauzon, Denis, and Haguenauer could do with V/M
Did I miss something? Are V/M training with D/L now??
No, we're just hoping that they will. For me so that they get programs worthy of their talent.
I love D/L. It would be awesome to see what they could do with Tessa and Scott!
I'm hoping too. I think D/L would be a great fit for V/M.

Ljubljana, Slovenia: Brianna Delmaestro / Timothy Lum, Valerie Taillefer / Jason Chan
Ostrava, Czech Republic: Mackenzie Bent / Garrett MacKeen, Danielle Wu / Spencer Soo
I was very happy to see that Andreann Poulin/Marc-Andre Servant skated the short dance today at the Lake Placid ice dance competition. Based on their score (50.42) they must be back in good form. Hopefully this means their injury problems are behind them now.

I saw that and was so happy for them. Great perseverance. I hope Poulin and Servant get an international assignment this fall.
Based on this tweet, it looks like Poulin & Servant won the FD at LPIDC handily (Hawayek/Baker's 79 was the next highest score as far as I can tell)!!!
I'm so happy for them! They're a beautiful team, they skate with joy, and their edges and smoothness are to die for. I'm really glad to see them back in form, and I too hope they get a senior B this season.
I believe Hawayek/Baker won overall, since H/B had a 6 point lead over P/S in the SD, and P/S won the FD by only 5 points
Poulin/Servant looked great. I also hope they get a Senior B assignment; they've made a terrific comeback.
Jr. SD results form Minto (I dont know points, I just caught the podium) 1. Bent/Mackeen 2. Croteau-Villeneuve/Hough 3. Collins/Firus
Yeah, H/B won overall - but P/S looked really good out there! I liked their FD.
You saw the FD? Cool! Any idea what the music was?
Posted in the LPIDC thread in Kiss and Cry:
Theoretically, yes, however they do not combine events at Lake Placid. Medals are awarded in each the SD & the FD.
Is there still no news of a new partner for Asher Hill or have I missed that?
They competed at Minto Summer Skate in Junior (as did Bent & McKeen) - I presume this means they are hoping to return to the JGP.
Any first impressions of Collins and Firus. He has always been a wonderful skater/dancer.
