Congratulation to the new parents. Baby Girl named "Blue Ivy". Explanation below.
I love how they came up with the name Ivy.
Ivy's a perfectly decent name. But Blue... Blue. That poor little rich baby. Can you imagine the teasing.
Blue may be an unusual name, but there are several baby girls names that are a reference to blue, generally related to descriptions of blue.
I am just thinking that she will need months of muscle training/PT to get that C-Section tummy back into the dancing strength shape
Poor baby with an awful name. At least she has Ivy to fall back on.
But not everyone knows those names mean blue and a name like Azure sounds more exotic.
Blue doesn't just mean a color it also can mean sad. I'm thinking of kids saying to the kid, Blueeeee Lonesome, Lonesome for you. To name a few things this kid is going to be saddled with. It will be easier to make fun of that name than Apple (even if Apple is weirder.). They should have named her Ivy Blue (at least) At least the child wasn't named Bear Blu (like apparently what Alicia Silverstone named her little boy)
Not a smart name.
Elvis Presley: "I'll have a bluuuuuuuueeee Christmas, without you...."
Brittany Taylor (on Daria): "Is that name OK? Because I was thinking of changing it to 'Blue'."
It also sounds like "blew", so you know this girl is getting teased in high school.
it's not a good name but it is better than beyonce
Oh yeah. Teenage boys live for that sort of name.
A friend of mine is named Blue. He's a well-known and well-liked distinguished professor--I don't think anyone ever made fun of his name.
And don't we just know that the tabloids will be full of "Body After Baby!!!" stories with lots of $$$ shout-outs to her trainers, nutritionists, Spanx suppliers, etc. etc. etc.
I like the name Blue.
Hate it when people judge unique names. >_< Congratulations to Beyonce and Jay-Z! It's a beautiful name; kid is lucky to have parents like them.
No doubt the plastic surgeon was on hand to give Beyonce a simultaneous tummy tuck/lipo after the birth.
But anyway, congratulations to Beyonce and Jay-Z!
In his entire X number of years on the planet, including elementary school, middle school, and high school, no one ever made fun of his name?
Good to know.
Blue Ivy kind of sounds like a Batman villain name.
Lil Blue will probably be going to school with Harper Seven, etc so I wouldn't worry too much about being bullied.
Well, if she's a Baby, and her name is Blue, then this is her song!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C53QAuOoSgc
I think it's a beautiful name ...
Maybe it's my background but I don't get the level of people have towards unusual English names. This is one area people seem to like conforming and do not encourage creativity. I guess it's language related.
I don't mind it. I think it's a cute name. Wouldn't name my own kid that but as far as celeb names go, it's a nice one.
So did she really have the baby or what? Anyone remember the FakeBellyGate?
I think the name is very pretty. It's way better than a lot of other celebrity baby names (Audio Science, Pilot Inspektor...) while still being semi-original.
Kenny Rogers had a show???
My good friend had a dog named Blue, and I'll always think of Blue's Clues.
I just love that her initials are B.I.C.
My SIL & BIL have a cat named Blue...
Yeah...my first thought was that she figured out Blue's Clues...
Jeremy Sisto has a daughter named Charley-Ballerina
If we don't like it, we're entitled to say that we don't like it. Just as you are entitled to say that you like it.
Congrats to the couple.....of course, all I can think is that if she looks like her father she's going to have bigger problems than her name.
Parents have the right to name their kids whatever they want, although I've always wondered about the logic that's used when they hang these atrocious names on these poor kids. Don't they know that these kids go thru life paying for their parents' desire to come up with these most unique and creative names?
Is it wrong of me to wish she becomes a tomboy?
Ivy is a cute name, Blue is just weird.
I'm just glad she was born on Saturday night and not Sunday. Don't want to share my spotlight
Seriously, though - congrats to Beyonce and Jay-Z
Blue and Ivy are both nice names but I don't think they go well together.
Yes, because Beyonce is such a common name...
My gut reaction when someone gives their child a crazy name is to think that the parents don't really care that much about the kid. Not sure why!
This story is circulating about a dad of premmies who tangled with Beyonce's security. If true, it's kind of crummy.
“I know they spent $1.3 million and I'm just a contractor from Bed-Stuy, but the treatment we received was not okay,” Coulon said. “My wife is just terribly upset. She had a C-section. She gave birth to twins. She is sore. Nobody needs this.”
Coulon insisted he wasn’t the only new parent upset by the hip-hop hassles in the hospital.
“This is the NICU. Nobody cares if you’re a celebrity. Nobody is star-gazing. They just want to see their children,” fumed Coulon, whose wife, whose wife delivered two premature and underweight girls on Wednesday.
“To have that circus roll into town and ruin our parade was unpleasant,” he said.
My feeling is that if Jay-Z and Beyonce were THAT concerned about security, and given the fact that they are multi-millionaires, then they should have set up a private hospital and staff in their own home. It's not like it's not big enough to accomodate a temporary hospital set-up with all of the same equipment and personnel that you'd find a standard maternity ward.
I doubt either of them knew this was an issue. I would imagine that Beyonce would be upset by this story, being a new mom and all. Probably a case of the private security guards taking matters into their own hands and going too far. If they were concerned about paparrazi, just request no cameras for anyone on the floor, and give the other parents on the ward a ID bracelet or something.
This is pretty bad. And considering that there was a bunch of money being spent to redecorate the room, someone could have taken more preparation in dealing with security issues. I'm sure her C-section was well planned also, well in advance. The media was given a due date of February to help guard the couple's privacy I'm sure, but it's not right that in "celebrity" no one considered the fact that there are other parents/families who want to visit and see their loved-ones, also. Treating one person like a celebrity shouldn't mean minimizing the importance of others.
What is surprising is that this is New York, not some small town, but one of the entertainment capitals of the world. Whoever "planned" this event dropped the ball. There's no excuse for this, if it's true.
Its absolutely ridiculous that they were able to buy a hospital. I hope they and the hospital get sued.
Lenox Hill has long been the bastion of the rich and famous. Who knows if Beyonce and J-Z didn't promise other funds that would further pad Lenox Hill's endowment fund.
But people say that even other celebrity hospitals don't go this far. Beyonce and JZ paid out over a million. As I said before what if a parent lost their child and was prevented from seeing said child, due this people's callousness. Apparently even the royal families don't do this one. They rent out a small corner of a hospital (corner) where they can keep security intact but not disturb other families.
I'll would have named her Unbeyonce (Not 'of' Beyonce)
Right, finally someone's addressing my question whether she really was pregnant or had a surrogate sign a confidentiality agreement.
Apparently some mothers are talking about suing.
Suing whom for what?
Separate names with a comma.
