I'd do a poll if I could, but I haven't the foggiest idea how, so here goes with something of VITAL importance.

Figure skating in the US has gotten shoved off the airwaves and the Nationals schedule has been upset in recent years due to (American) football and TV broadcasting schedules. Now, I'm no football fan, and I want to know: Is there anyone out there who actually enjoys seeing large men in their little spandex tights, or do you all cringe as much as I do? Some football players are fit but some of them are just ENORMOUS (they may be fit, but they are also huge, for reasons of the game they play).

Who would you rather see in Spandex? A football player, or a figure skater?

Based on the results of this important discussion, perhaps we could persuade the powers that be to hold US Nationals earlier in January, as used to be the case. :D

Although I don't think of this topic as vital importance , I'd rather see figure skaters in spandex (not a huge fan of spandex, though), but I do luvs me some football! I don't watch football however to see huge guys in spandex.

"Vital importance" was meant very much tongue in cheek.

Football spandex versus skating spandex is like trying to decide between horses and camels.

Well I think this is of vital importance. :D

Whatever spandex football uniforms use tends to flatten out the butt, and this is not true for figure skating spandex. This is yet another reason that figure skating is superior to football!

Yeah, some of those linemen are behemoths and wouldn't look good in anything they put on. But overall, I'd say that the offensives backs and the defensive cornerbacks are usually built for speed, and they can have wonderfully built bodies which I greatly appreciate. Of course, I champion figure skaters and ballet dancers as the best athletes in the world, but there can be some truly fabulous looking gentlemen in football. I find basketball players much too big for my taste-but that's just me. They're just TOO tall.

Where I work there is a strip center with a grocery store near a very affluent subdivision. This subdivision is where many pro sports athletes in Atlanta live, and that includes Braves and some track stars too. I run into very large and fit people in the Kroger all the time and wonder who they are. My husband met Michael Vic in the BMW place, and said he was not big at all and had skinny legs. I've met several baseball players who were just dreamy and so well made! I had a secretary who was engaged to a Braves' player, and I used to date a professional hockey player, and let me tell you....they were FINE. In many, many ways....;)

In other words, athletes? I LOVE THEM ALL!

I'm afraid the phrase "strip center" gave me entirely the wrong idea, Holley!

At least the football players don't have lots of illusion fabric.
