Virtue & Moir since they had the most exciting work. D&W probably deservedly won the events though due to their consistency.

The best dancers are Virtue and Moir. But the best results are Davis and White...

Davis and White are a no-brainer this year. Didn't they win everything they entered?

Going by results its D/W, but I voted for V/M because they finally showed some artistic range and how great they really are. The judges may not have liked it, but Carmen was the best thing I've seen in ice dance since Krylova retired.

Just because they've won everything doesn't mean they are the best. :)

On paper, it would seem D&W were the best just by the number of wins/gold medals they have but overall I would still say V&M. The overall level of skating and their programs this past season tips the scale in their favor for me.

Enticed from my lurking to respond to this one....

V/M are a very special, once in a generation team. That's not to say that D/W aren't a great team. They certainly are! But if we have to choose the best "ice dance" team this year, in my opinion, it's V/M. What makes them so special:

    - the way they move, independently and together
    - the way they feel and understand and articulate the music with their whole bodies, regardless of genre
    - the attention to the finest details, head to toe, in everything they do
    - the chemistry and connection they have with each other on the ice, and even off
    - the quality, control and smoothness of their skating skills
    - the depth and precision of their edges
    - the closeness with which they skate, with that precision, at high speeds
    - the quality of their lines and body positions
    - all of that done at the same time
    - their desire to try new things and push the boundaries of the sport - is it sport? is it art? with V/M, it is a perfect union of the 2. It's truly dance. What V/M do is extremely difficult and technically unbelievable, especially when combined with the above list of things.
    - the Carmen FD, from concept to execution, was just on a completely different planet than anything else out there

Sadly, the current judging system does not reward these things nearly well enough in ice dance. I applaud the system in it's attempt to add uniform criteria, and to emphasize technical quality. We need to figure out how to better define and reward the above list in the PCS and GOE's, since this is the heart and soul of ice dance. There is a reason why so many other athletes/fellow competitors have so much respect and admiration for V/M, and why so many high level coaches past and present have such good things to say about them regularly.

Virtue and Moir of course. They are beautiful to watch and the best I have ever seen out of the top teams competing now and since I began attending figure skating competitions.
