The Giants are webcasting an intra-squad game today. Trying to figure out how to work it into my lesson plans :sekret:

I thought I'd missed it. It's tomorrow. Wheee!

Heading off to Mets spring training tomorrow! I'll keep you all posted- hopefully I can sneak out of my office from time to time and catch a game or two. It would be a shame to travel all that way just to rot in a ballpark office, wouldn't it! :D

A swarm of bees stopped the Giants game today for 41 minutes.

    I hope it's not an omen. :D

    At least it wasn't locusts....

Hi All from Port St Lucie. I feel bad I have not had any Mets voids to contribute- I'm in the executive offices all day- I haven't even seen a game and I've been here 2 weeks! Then again, considering how our games are going, I guess I can wait til the regular season LOL Heading back to NYC tomorrow, but if I DO have any voids, I'll let you know!

Off to second game of the day in a few. :)

I guess it was inevitable that my Reds couldn't stay in their protective injury-free bubble forever but finding out our new closer Ryan Madson has to have Tommy John surgery was bad news that I did NOT need to hear this weekend. The poor guy is devastated that he won't be able to help his new team this year and now we have to figure out who's closing games for us this season. Oy. Hopefully that's the only injury we have for the rest of spring training and the bullpen is still fine. :wall: :fragile:

I was so sorry to hear this as well. I've followed Madson since he was a rookie and he's done a lot for the Phillies- I was sad to see him go but hoping he'd do an awesome job. I guess I'm glad in retrospect that we didn't sign him since we already have a couple of our key guys injured :shuffle:, but overall, I'm really bummed for him.

The Reds are about thisclose to signing my fave guy Joey Votto to a long term extension of some sort and make him a Red for life. :D HOLY CRAP, please let this happen before I head to GABP tomorrow night for our Spring Showcase exhibition game so I can scream my head off even more for him and the other guys! :cheer: :cheer2: :cheer: :cheer2:

I thought it was a done deal?

The Giants locked up Matt Cain for five years. And their team plane has a beard on it. :)

Well, the talking baseball heads all think it's a done deal but we Reds fans are waiting to hear from our actual GM, owner, and the player himself before we start jumping up and down about anything, LOL

I watch CTV Toronto for my news as CTV Northern Ontario just plain sucks anymore. Anyway...Lance Brown announced it as a done deal for Joey last night, so I'm assuming it is.

Sportsnet's been doing Jays Up Close the last month and we saw one on the weekend that had Dad and I just killing ourselves laughing at. Buck Martinez went out fishing for snapper w/Jose Bautista and Ricky Romero and...Well... The sea was way too rough once they got out, so they decided to go back close to shore. The boys had decided to take a nap on the way out, so Buck was showing them laid out on the couch in the cabin and saying, "This is no longer the "Fishing w/the Jays" show, but the "How to nap like the Jays" show."

Then when they finally get the lines in the water, Buck's the only one to catch anything and it wasn't too much to boast about either. Maybe the length of his hand. Maybe. To say Ricky and Jose had a blast giving him a hard time over that is an understatement. :D

No Jays tonight, but Sportsnet West is showing the Cards vs the Marlins. So Dad'll be happy there's *some* Baseball on. :)

The most important thing though? W/the exception of the A's and Mariners who already started their Seasons, the rest of our teams are all Number One at the moment. :D

I hope, for your sake :p, that he doesn't pull a Barry Zito and just suck money out of the club while, well, just generally sucking.

I saw a quote that said something like Barry is the most expensive batting practice pitcher ever.

Which, from what I saw at spring training, continues to be true. :scream: He was trying to mimic Tim Lincecum's pitching motion. It wasn't pretty.

While I'd really rather not be sick... if I have to be sick, it might as well be a day when opening day baseball will be on my TV!

We have a TV at work so I could have watched it in the office, too.

    "HOLY COW!!!"

This Ladies and Gents is officially the longest ever played Opening Day game in the history of MLB and....WOW!!!

There is nothing like Opening Day in Cincinnati (it is actually a city wide holiday now! :D) and while I would have loved to have been downtown all day for the festivities and the game because it's been a massive party here all day long, I'm still super pumped for this occasion. No one does Opening Day like my hometown and I LOVE that the guys played such a great game. Jay Bruce hit HR #1, starting pitcher Johnny Cueto was amazing, and the Reds beat the Marlins 4-0 in front of the largest crowd in GABP history. If the pitching, defense, and hitting keeps being this awesome, it's going to be a fun year! GO REDS!!!! :cheer: :cheer2: :cheer:

I can't wait for my game on Saturday night!! :biggrinbo

Well, that's two of us here in the thread who had great Opening Days. :D

Thanks for the reminder to check the sked for the Jays to see if they're home when I go down for CSOI in May. :)

Being a Jays fan who lurks in this thread, I was very pleased with how their season opener went. Think pretty much everyone in the bullpen got used, and the man Bautista seemed to have played everywhere :) OK, he didn't really but it was funny seeing him at first base! Romero gave up 4 runs in an inning and then proceeded to shut down his opposition - as did everyone else who came in as relief. Arencibia -- you are my hero! ... at least until the next time we need and get one.

Yes indeedy...Winning that first series of the year and in such drama made for quite the Easter Weekend. I'm worried though, as the Red Sox literally got slaughtered in Detroit this weekend and I never like it when a team that's been so badly embrassed comes into Toronto. A team w/something to prove is a dangerous team IMO.

Still...I'll have on my old, but now new, jersey from my Birthday in 92 on and wearing it proudly at that tonight.

BTW...Did anyone else see the first game from the Marlins new park last week? That is one impressive looking place and I can see the comparisons to Wimbledon w/the roof, as it really does look identical to it.

Barry Zito, I repeat BARRY FREAKING ZITO got the Giants first win of the season. And pitched a shutout. In Denver.

The apocalypse is truly upon us. :scream:

the yankees finally won a game, hubby was starting to grow some grays, lol. I guess I should check if and when they visit the A's or Giants. Hooray for living in the S.F. Bay Area! I guess I can cheer on the Giants but NO WAY would I ever cheer for the A's.

Lincecum out of the game in 2 1/3 innings. Shortest start ever.

Have fun Rob and remember to bring along some warm clothing if the weather's like it was tonight in Oriole Park. W/the Jays playing this afternoon and Sportsnet not having any rights to Playoff Hockey, they were showing the Yankees/Orioles from YES Network tonight. Some of those fans looked like they were literally freezing to death.

What a pitching clinic this afternoon by both Lester and Romero!! Lester went into the 8th and Romero the 9th and both had their A game w/them too. Throw in two incredable plays/catches by Lawrie and Bautista respectively and it was a very entertaining game this afternoon.

Of course the fact the Jays won it made even more entertaining, but it really was a great game for so early on in the Season.

Its sunny and pleasant at the Nats game. And JR Martinez threw out the first pitch. They did not announce him as DWTS winner.

    And we won!

I had the best time ever at another Nats win, but the best part was between innings. During the t shirt toss, the man across the aisle from me stepped out in the aisle and jumped for a shirt. As He went up, his pants fell down around his ankles!!!! He had to bend down to pull up his pants, and let's just say he wasn't wearing his Sunday best undies! It took me about a half hour to stop laughing.

Incredible! The tropical colored Marlins are above .500 & actually had a successful (5-1) homestand. It won't last long, so I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

For some reason tonight's Jays/Royals game was not shown on TV, but was on the radio and what ends up happening?
