They consider it a part of 2012/2013 season then?

I thought the new season only began in August... I never really knew when it was officially considered the new season.

I believe the ISU considers the new season as officially beginning on or after July 1st?

Shenzhen is the first of 4 competitions in a series that runs from April to October and so stretches into the 2012-13 season - event info link for first competition: http://www.asianchallenge.org/cgi-bin/display/news_display.cgi?news=8

Official site for the series: http://www.asianchallenge.org/cgi-bin/home.cgi

    From the competition announcement:

Yes, this is a series of competitions, with the one in April being the first competition. Sorry for not being clear.

That said, I'm not convinced this is an ISU-sanctioned event. This competition is not listed on the ISU page, whereas Asian Figure Skating Trophy (2007,
2008/9, 2011/12) is on the ISU calendar. The 2011/12 Trophy is also described on HKSU's page as ISU-sanctioned.

OTOH, 2010/2011 Asian Figure Skating Trophy (Thailand) and all the
Asian Junior Figure Skating Challenge events in the past or future are not on the ISU calendar. This announcement (http://www.hksu.org/contents/upload/2012ajfsc_chn_sz/2012AJFSC_Announcement_CHN_SZ.pdf) also does not say this Trophy is authorized by the ISU, though it follows ISU rules.

The HKSU website regularly posts a link to ISU-sanctioned events (www.isu.org), which makes me think that HKSU also posts non-ISU events.

These were just posted on the Chinese website yesterday, are they the results? http://chnfs.org/archives/740 Or if this was a different competition what was it? The timing seems right.

No, there's a national game of some sort too. But this may be the one I've just posted in the other Chinese comp thread. Thanks!

It's incredible how many Korean girls landing triple jumps there are!

I thought there would be a huge void after Kim retires but it looks like there are plenty of younger girls capable of skating at an elite level. :)

Yes, Maisy Ma is actually quite good, she attempts up to 3 loop in her long programs.

Hopefully, they will get Maisy Ma to some internationals sooner than later.
