...despite being inexplicably held up by the judges year after year......sorry, but it's true.
US Figure Skating just posted on Facebook that Alissa was injured while performing her free skate at the Fox Cities Invitational in Wisconsin. No other details posted
USFSA just posted this on facebook.
@USFigureSkating has tweeted:
"Alissa Czisny was injured today performing her free skate at the Fox Cities Invitational. Info will be released after a full evaluation.
8:51pm - 12 Jan 13"
I was there and suspect she had a hip dislocation on her operated side
Oh crap. I'm so bummed for her. She has the heart of a lion!
Oh gosh, that sounds awful.
Oh my God!
Poor Alissa can't catch a break lately
Oh no that is horrible news. Hopefully she is ok
Here's her program. I'm glad I can't see it well, but it appears it was on a Triple Flip
Sad to see.
It appears that her free skate music was "Gone with the Wind"
Checked here right after seeing the USFS tweet. So sorry to hear this!!! (((Alissa)))
Alissa appears to have landed 3L, 3Lz<, and 3T+2T before injuring herself on a 3F attempt.
So very sad.
Oh whatever four letter word you prefer...
Here's hoping it's not as serious as anyone thinks! Poor Alissa!
So sad. She was never making it to Worlds this year, but she could have gotten herself back in the mix for next years Olympic team and next season with a decent showing. I wonder if this is the end of her career, it will be impossible for her to make the Olympic team next year now probably.
I was kind of worried about this. Hope she turns out to be ok! Wasn't it a bit soon to be competition ready at her level after a major surgery like that?
Oh say it isn't so!!
This has to be her worst nightmare right here. A re-injury in the process of getting back to form recovering from another injury. Especially at her age, and with Sochi getting closer and closer, there isn't going to be much time left. A shame, nonetheless.
I think this might be the end of her career right here, sorry to say.
VIDEO: (Go to 3:15) This fancam shows exactly how Czisny's injury occurred...came down funny on a jump, didn't get up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJBFUYyg-9c&feature=youtu.be&t=3m15s … (Video of her fall not close up, it happened at the opposite end of the arena.)
Did they have to get a stretcher?
I wonder why she didn't just take the rest of the season off? She had major surgery and really didn't have much to gain skating the rest of the season.
What I saw in the video was just that, she went down, and never got up.
Poor Alissa, I REALLY REALLY hope it's just a bruised hip, like the injury Ashley got at the GPF. But given what Alissa was already recovering from, I can't help but be a pessimist and think that this new injury just ended her season. Please be alright Alissa
Darn it. Hope she is OK.
Wow, so sad for Alissa. Hope it isn't as bad as it seems. When I clicked on the video links in the posts above, I got a "this video is private" message.
Ya, it seems they are deleted already, not a good sign IMO. Tragic.
I didn't watch, but feel sick to my tummy. Get better soon!
oh dear - I know its six months usual for torn labrum surgery - and often career ending.. hope she is okay she does take awkward falls that must take their toll.. not a natural jumper at all - hopefully she can get through this.. she is one skater I would seriously enjoy just watching without the triple jumps.. has so many other qualities..
I did not watch either, and I don't know if I could. Heartbreaking....
I just hope she's ok and this is not career-ending. I want her to say goodbye on her terms
Why was the vid taken down? Don't get it.
I was glad it was posted & did see the part at 3:15 but couldn't watch after that. Was she helped off after that or did she try to skate off the ice herself?
Ugh, I just watched the video of an earlier SP skate and was so happy to see her back on the ice and doing well. How sad. Best wishes for Alissa.
The poster removed the video. Personally, I don't think that is a bad choice. We've heard what happened, I don't think we necessarily all need to watch it.
So sad to read of Alissa's injury. Best wishes to her for a speedy and complete recovery!
