When skaters choreograph their programs, sometimes even the jumps seem beautiful and artistic when performed. What male skater has managed to do this with the triple loop either in a competitive program or an exhibition?

Stephane Lambiel, "Poeta." Love the placement of the loop with the choreography/music.

The loop is one of my favorite jumps because I think it is can blend into the choreography more seamlessly than the other jumps. No examples for you, but I love to watch someone pop a 3loop up out of no where.

I tend to associate the loop more with the ladies as the guys focus more on the 3axel and quad. The more impressive ones for me came from skaters like Czako, Harding and Butryskaya had a great one.

Aussie Willy, I have fond memories of Butyrskaya's triple loops myself, however, even though the loop is no glorious jump for the guys to brag about, I am sure we could dig up a few worthy examples to admire.

The 3 loop was used effectively in Kulik's Aladdin free skate from 96. It was usually big and airy and placed right on the musical climax.

I always admired Lambiel's 3Loop. It had great height and distance, and always well-timed to music.

I like Slutskaya's loop with that difficult three turns before the loop.

I actually think the back entrance with no free foot assist on the take-off make the loop a difficult jump to incorporate seemlessly into the choreography. Rare is the skater than can just pull the 3loop out of nowhere from footwork or MITF; It's usually very predictable when the skater is preparing for the jump.

My pick is for John Curry in his 1976 Olympic free skate. That loop is timed so perfectly with the music.

I remember reading in his picture book autobiography, explaining how Guss Lussi got John to learn the triple loop on the figures rink at the Broadmoor.

Much as I would love to say Elena Liashenko (who would take about half the rink length to prepare and never get it), my ladies' vote is for Yuka Sato. It really was her money jump.

I love it when a triple loop is entered from running threes ala Lambiel and Kostner.

Midori Ito's loop was stunning. She hit that edge and go UP and away.

Hey - may I ask why the loop is abbreviated as R? Something I either glazed over or hadn't noticed before.

The "R" is for "[Werner] Rittberger", who invented the jump.

Kadavy's ina bauer right into the 3loop after one 3-turn was very nice.

Tara Lipinski's 3loop was a favorite of mine.

Todd Eldredge did a great 3loop/3toe combination in 2002 at Nationals and the Olympics.

I think Keegan Messing has an impressive 3loop, right?

I love Cynthia Phaneufs. Something about her takeoff is just amazing!
Also Yu-Na's and Michelle's. People say these are their bad jumps but when they do them they're amazing.

Irina Slutskaya's triple loop was the best and so elegant with the three turns.

I like springy, airy 3loops off the long back outside edge the best. Ones like Harding, Ito or Rochette.

They just look so powerful in the air and on the takeoff.

Laura Lepisto's triple loop is the best IMO.

Yes, and I love how she just enters it with no pre-rotation at all. The jump just takes right off and has such pop.

Joannie Rochette's triple loop was gorgeous when it was on. One of her best jumps because of how she just snaps into it.

Yes, I love how she will transition directly out of the landing into a spiral and then directly into a spin as in her Samson + Delilah program or like in Aranjuez when she lands right on time with the music change and does the one-foot footwork from the landing directly into her spin combination.

Odd that there is no mention of Ando or Asada with their array of 3+3loop combos. Both also have nice solo 3loops, but I like Miki's the most from her short and long programs this last year with the 3 turns and steps into it.

Kurt Browning's loops often came right out of choreography (as did his other jumps), especially in his earlier professional programs when he was still comfortable with the jumps and had knees that worked.

Actually we see a lot of skaters do it now (Mirai Nagasu and sometimes Ashley Wagner) does it as well, now that steps before a jump are usually rewarded in GOE -- we see it especially in the junior level when the loop is the required solo jump and the 3-turns are the steps before.
