Hopes dashed again. :p Can he not growl and scream his way through a song? Of course not, then you notice he can't sing. ;)

I loved Casey. Lauren butchered Aretha. I thought that was terrible and empty. She turned it into adult contemporary.

I don't get that look on Lauren for "Natural Woman," the faux-hawk is giving me terrible Sanjaya flashbacks. :yikes:

She was okay, but she's like a soul-less Kelly Clarkson.

I remember Kelly Clarkson singing that on Idol season 1. It was a turning point for her that season.

I kind of agree. On key, but missing that "love him so much it hurts" quality that makes that song what it is. Randy said as much in a roundabout way. Good, not great.

Casey is my favorite of the night thus far. I'm not crazy about Lauren's version of Natural Woman. It was kind of boring, but she has a nice voice.

I thought this was a great choice for James, but he sounds way off to me.

lauren sucked all of the soul out of that song.

casey started out fine enough, but just fell apart.

Oh wow. I thought James was fantastic. He may not have been perfect but I really felt what he was singing. He and Casey are my favorites so far.

Got behind because of a phone call.

I thought Casey was really good tonight. Much prefer the softer side of Casey.

Waiting to see/hear Lauren but why is she dressed like this for this song? Not thinking this is going to be good, and I am a fan.

james has the same problem i had with adam- a dislike of their lower register.

it could've been better, there were some sharp notes; but all in all that good.

So glad I got home in time to see that! :respec: Last note was shaky at first, then he went down a bit and it was great.

I'll be downloading that one. Oh, and for Peter, it was "My Guitar Gently Weeps." :)

I thought James sounded a bit off too, but I did feel he emotionally connected to the song, which made up a lot of the somewhat sharp notes when he was in his lower register.

I thought Lauren sounded just fine. She is always on pitch and hits the notes but she sang a boring version of this song, not sure why she thought this would be the way to go with this song. She has so much potential so it is aggravating.

James has been performing this song for some time. There are good videos of him doing this song on youtube (if they haven't been taken down). This is the song that really got him a lot of online support even before Hollywood.

Did Lauren get some coaching on her live interview responses? Much better this time but very pageantry response about doing what you love, yada yada. At least it wasn't awkward.

Um, the judges thought that was different than what Scotty has done previously? Huh.

Jacob Lusk – I Just Can’t Stop Loving You (Michael Jackson with Siedah Garrett)
Haley Reinhart - ? (Janis Joplin)
Casey Abrams - ? (Creedence Clearwater Revival ???)
Lauren Alaina – (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman (Aretha Franklin)
James Durbin – While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Beatles)
Scott McCreery – ? (Elvis Presley)

If Jacob gets to sing with Siedah Garrett, then when I get on Idol, I want to sing "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" with Barbra Streisand.

Was he trying to make a joke by referencing Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror”?

I read that Constantine is performing on tomorrow night’s results show. Let’s see if he has something to say… ;)

    :D

Not liking this from James. Nice departure and I give him a point for that but his voice isn't strong in this type of song. I would have liked to have heard Lambert on this, which is what I think almost everytime he sings. :shuffle:
