WTF was that? Of all the Elton songs ever done she chooses that?? She has a good voice but I'll never understand why she picked that song.

Lauren was blessed with a good voice but she comes across as so stupid, I can't believe she even understands what she's singing. She just looks like a dumb blonde cow who is reading the words off the teleprompter.

Ok. sexist remark from Steven to his crush.

OMG She's turned into Kellie Pickler. I hated the Pickles stupidity. Lauren should never, ever be allowed to talk.

I KNOW. Even though most of the songs would get murdered, it would be different and at least entertaining. :watch:

That was an okay version of Candle in the Wind, if you like country. Which I don't...

I am so bummed :p I missed Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and I SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell you, that Pia sang it.

omg throw in something about candle in the wind being stupid and we can get married

lauren has a potentially great voice but when she speaks she reminds me of someone on maury for a free paternity test

All the show tonight has done has reminded me how much Elton John's songs suck.

Sacrilege!! Sir Elton is a GOD! Haters. :p

I liked Lauren. For the first time ever. Sure, she's dumb, but so's a fun box of glittery rocks.

WTF is with James' ears? Is his father Dumbo?

Except for his first two albums, I agree. He was a push-the-button for the other radio station for me for years. But I still can tell whether they're doing OK with the songs. So far, meh.

James get flames and everything? I feel like they want him to win...really really badly...

I have a feeling James is someone they can tell what to do and he would also check off a box never checked on Idol as far as winners. Cook was a rocker but in a very very different way.

Is she going to put out an album full of ballads? She can sing whatever she wants, but I think it's a bad sign that I was able to predict exactly which song she was going to sing. And she it's not smart to totally ignore what the judges said.

James needs to give Pia and Lauren some ideas about performing. The man is so much fun on the stage. His performance level is so above everyone else.

No, he's not. But he is fun and entertaining, and I'll take it over Pia. And whatever dreck Jacob is going to caterwaul at me.

Is Thia going to sing Circle of Life and tell us that it relates to current events?

ITA. He is a live concert performer. You don't have to be a great singer if you're a great performer: Steven Tyler, Mick Jagger, etc., etc., etc.,

She didn't totally ignore what the judges said. She just put it off a week. It isn't her fault she was dealt Elton John week this week. I don't think he had an uptempo that she could do well without coming across as cheesy karaoke. I think she was very smart as she hit it out of the park. The judges are just there to offer advice, they aren't directing and they certainly don't have to be listened to and they don't have (or even often) give good advice when it comes to song choice.

Yeah. When she was compared to Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, Kelly said that Lauren reminded her of Kellie. I think she's deliberately trying to come across as stupid and the producers are happy to help her. Like when she said that she spoke one language -- Spanish. I always found Kellie annoying, but Lauren is worse because she's lacking the little charm and humility that Kellie had. But I think Lauren has the better voice.

I don't get the James love. He's a faux rocker. And why does he scream at the end of every song?

Speaking of screaming - where's Jacob and his strange facial movements? :scream:

Probably in the pimp spot, he seems to be the producers backup plan if something crazy should happen to James. Although for the life of me I can't figure out why.

Thia needs to go home and grow a personality, me thinks.

Whoever mentioned Circle of Life...omg, Jacob would probably cream himself to get to sing that song. I will laugh if he chose that.

But ignored their advice this week. I don't think they meant that sometime in the future she should change things up. I'm pretty sure most people thought they meant this week. There are plenty of uptempo Eltonsongs and she could not have made them sound no more karaoke than DLTSGD. She has had a bunch of weeks to do something different and hasn't. I think it's boring and lame. And I also call B.S. on her getting to say what she would sing next week. I don't remember anyone else being able to do that. She's a producer's pet, though, and I guess they're worried that they couldn't save her if people didn't like her song choice and she came in at the bottom.

But Pia sang an uptempo (midtempo at least) the week before last. The judges even praised her for "changing it up" and then the next week they quickly forgot their words. I know it was Whitney kind of disguised as an uptempo but that is what Pia is going to do. It has to be accepted or don't vote for her so she will go home. She isn't going to come out and do the feckin Crocodile Rock.

I forgot about this song. My little sister said it made her think about me the year I spent abroad when we were young. And before you think she was soggy, she was only 15.

Thia has a beautiful voice and did it justice, actually.

Pageant song. Wilson Phillips did the best cover. Not a lot of dramatics on it.

Speaking of Sir Elton covers, I'm still partial to Jon Bon Jovi's "Levon" cover. :kickass: And Sinead O'Connor's version of "Sacrifice" is sublime. :swoon:
