That would be it. I've heard her too many times before in all the pagentry.
He is only 17 after all. Considering he hasn't spent years singing in bars behind chicken wire, he's learning fast. And, truth be told, he's not going to be doing pop in a concert 2 years from now. He'll hook up with a good songwriter and a band and do well.
Was it Diana DiGarmo who did I'm Still Standing back in the day?
And, slightly off topic, what pair skated to I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That? I'm thinking it was one of the Russian pairs, but I can't remember which.
I liked Country Comfort. Actually, I'm probably the only person in the world who really liked Tumbleweed Connection and thinks Elton went downhill from there.
I missed last week which is just as well, I would have had a heart attack when Casey was almost auffed. Was he that bad?
Here I am, watching. I guess I have to admit my horrible addiction to this show.
Scotty sounds OK but not sure who he kept looking at to his left with those freaky f*ck me eyes. If he was looking at his grandma then that was just gross. He isn't as awkward with a guitar in his arms, thank goodness.
Naima has a really strong accent?? Goodbye Naima, nice to know you but with two going home I am afraid you are doomed with an early slot, horrible song choice and subpar vocals.
Peter: Scotty sang Country Comfort
Naima up next singing a reggae version of I'm Still Standing. (which I'm not crazy about. I just don't like her.)
No. Just No.
Hmm... my first thought was oh dear lord no... but it was an interesting take on that song. I thought it was entertaining. She did a good job of it and it's a brave risk. A bit pitchy in places but overall fun and not too bad
That was...bizarre. I didn't hate it, but it was odd.
I actually liked that, so I guess I'm the minority here.
Her choices don't always work, but she takes risks and you have to give her some props for that.
I'm there with you.
Judges didn't like it either. Except Steven who always likes everything.
I am not sure how Naima ended up in the top 12 anyway. And that was
Has Steven Tyler ever said a bad word about any performance? I mean, if Scotty got away with his murder of the Motown Stevie Wonder song and Jacob got away with absolutely ruining Alone for millions of Heart fans then I am not sure Steven Tyler will ever say anything to anyone other than to praise them. Too bad because that is a complete waste of a judge, why not just alternate his judging spot with the contestants Moms, they would say the same thing he says.
OMG OMG, Taio Cruz has the funniest speaking voice ever. I just died.
naima sounds like a commercial for the jamaica board of tourism, i'm just glad it's over
Naima was not good at all-I was intending to vote for her no matter what but now I am not so sure because I have liked her in the past!!
Remember when Elton John called the show racist when the bottom three was fantasia latoya and jennifer one week in season 4??!?
As I suspected, she doesn't actually have an accent so why fake the accent at the beginning of the song when she starts off speaking? It comes across seriously fake.
Paul's doing "Rocket Man", too bad he won't have the guts to do the Shatner version.
I know he's agreed with someone's else's criticism occasionally, be I don't recall him "originating" one.
ETA: Energy, Paul, energy.
it is interesting that paul thinks i need to see more of this carnation coat
i half expect his brothers to fake his murder and sell him into slavery
Dear Lord... my ears are bleeding... and that outfit is making me want to be blind...
Is Paul attempting to put us all to sleep? Hilarious how he admits to trying to cover this once and it failed miserably. Ok then...perfect choice for you, I guess?
Gosh, this show brings out major snark in me.
He doesn't sound horrible. Picking up steam now. He is just so different sounding and I don't think I could listen to an entire album of his.
LOL at the ending whisper. That was odd.
I guess he thought marrying his weird persona to this song would work. Doesn't for me.
He was better in the auditions.
Pia...shoulder pad, really? Don't bring those back!
LMAO, definitely not singing an uptempo.
Eff what the judges say Pia, with a voice like that you can sing whatever you want, but that being said I still prefer Clay's version. I still love you though Pia and I'll be first in line to buy the CD
A cross between Fergie and Axel Rose????
Oh, Peter dear: Pia: Like the Sun Going Down...are you surprised?
I know how she can surprise them next week: she should sing a bad reggae version..oh, wait. Somebody already did that.
I was never a Pia fan and she does nothing this week to improve that opinion. And to ignore advice is a FU to the judges, I hope the fans return the FU to Pia.
I have not been impressed with anyone so far.
I always cringe when I hear that song title...it can be thought of as a sexual innuendo - plus it being covered to death makes me never, ever want to hear it again. Elton has so many ballads to choose from. If you insist on doing a ballad, why not pick one nobody has done on AI before?
