Not much gossip from the usual websites this week. This is all I've got to tide us over until the show commences...

Are Haley and Casey a couple?
Haley and Casey (Not much info at this link, which includes...)

Jacob Lusk is #1 – Ranking the American Idol Top 11 Redux

...Jacob is #1? I'm not putting much faith in rickey.org these days! (Although they do say that Pia is favoured to win the season, which is a tad more believable!)

    From mjsbigblog:

    Album Numbers (Via USA Today)

So in one week, Jennifer Hudson has out-sold Lee DeWyze, whose CD has been out for over four months? The champ vs. the 7th place finisher...and the winner is... Poor Lee, even Crystal is out-selling him by 44,000 copies. And it looks like the AI collection CD is selling like...lead... (Well, it's not selling that well! ;))

Who's ready for Elton John night! I certainly hope a lot of ballads are chosen. "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me", anyone? Has that one ever been covered?

The #1 ranking was for online presence. He had the most net activity last week - good and bad.

I saw a suggestion that one of the girls sing "The Bitch is Back."

I hope this isn't another snoozefest. I mean, I've only seen one episode due to Job #3 being canceled one week, and I can't see the one tonight, but if everyone picks a ballad, that's going to suck.

Paul tweeted today that it was "time to rock," so I'm hoping that means she's not doing a ballad. It could mean he's doing "Crockodile Rock."

Pia was practically instructed not to do a ballad, though I could see her doing a Clay-like version of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." Thia also seemed to be told not to do another ballad.

Lauren seems to like more uptempo songs and Jacob is not much into ballads.

Casey tweeted that "tonight is the night I go bold." I don't know what it means, but I hope it doesn't mean even bigger yells and grimaces. I hope it means that he's re-arranged an Elton song. Elton's songs are largely piano driven, but maybe Casey rearranged one for a different instrument?

ETA: Beefcake, I think Peter was joking. That song has been done a number of times on Idol and is on some lists for songs that should never again be sung on Idol.

I hope Casey doesn't try to out Elton the early 80s Elton.

 And now I can clearly remember Clay, Archuleta, and OMG Guarini singing it. Make it stop!

I hate Peter even more now that the joke's on me vice Peter. :p

I don't know if I want to watch tonight. I am still so pissed that they went back on their word and are doing artist specific theme nights. I don't take well to being lied to!

I don't understand why someone doesn't sing Celine. I mean standing there with your arms spread like Kate Winslet as the boat is sinking. How cool would that be? Can't imagine why nobody has done that.

CELINE!!! Why hasn't anyone done Celine???

P.S. Mariah Carey has some good songs as well. Plus they are easy to do.

We should send a suggestion to Nigel that he suggest Celine, Mariah and Whitney would be excellent to emulate. I'll bet Randy Jackson might even have worked with them at some point!

Good point! I mean, I heard she likes to do this "whistle register" thing all the time. How hard is it to whistle?? I could do that!!

Some song spoilers. Just the songs. Not who is doing them.

Tiny Dancer, Country Comforts, Candle in the Wind, Daniel, Don’t Let the Sun……

Gee, who could be doing Country Comforts? Any money on who took on DLTSGD this time around? I'm guessing Pia, complete with glory note, but I hope I'm wrong.

Me too and putting a dance beat to it doesn't make it different from a ballad.

Maybe Pia will listen to the judges and do something uptempo. I think that she, Thia, and Casey have pretty much been told to stop doing certain things and they'll get called out on it if they don't change this week.

Well I can't exactly blame Pia for going with a ballad given the theme. Elton has plenty of fun uptempo stuff but I think the average person thinks of his big soaring ballads that tend to fall in a more midtempo range. Besides, she isn't going anywhere. I would love to know the vote totals because it would be interesting to see if she is leading and if the Producers are trying to push their favorites over her by getting her to change what is working or if they are really trying to help her out. I don't for a second think the judges comments are always their own, as was proven when Idoloonies pointed out the huge disparity in remarks from week to week.

I love Pia's voice, but to me she comes off more like a really talented Miss America contestant than anything else.

Country is Scotty's niche, it's what he's good at. But good lord I don't think he can sing more than 3 notes total. It's all starting to sound the same week after week. I'm so over it. He's going to have a huge career in Nashville regardless. He still needs to learn how to perform though...still comes off a bit unnatural

In the middle of his songs, I can't hear Scotty's voice. Maybe it's me.
