David Cook officially has the boot song this year for Idol, debuting tonight (probably). He's covered Simple Minds' "Don't You (Forget About Me)". Possible rumors that he's performing tonight, but that may just be speculation.

By the way, the boot song will be available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon March 8th. But if you pre-order David's new CD on DCO, you get the download of the boot song immediately for free. It's fantastic! I just might be playing it on repeat. It's possible, anyway.

So, who's going home? Who'll squeak by as a wildcard?

Is the song going to be on his album or is it just an extra bonus you get for pre-ordering from ITunes?

OMG, we get to listen to Breakfast Club music every result night? Could be worse! Have they had such an upbeat goodbye song before?

While the beat might be "upbeat," the song itself is very melancholy.

And his version of it doesn't make it upbeat. It's intense. Almost angry. It's probaby more in keeping with how some of the booted contestants feel than some previous boot songs.

I always found Bad Day upbeat in its ironic way.

I was referring to the actual beat of the song being more upbeat and the choice of instruments. I realize the lyrics tell a different story but I tend to listen to melody first and lyrics last. Not a good habit but its what I do.

ETA: Please, anyone, what's the piece playing in the Coke commercial with the guys in the desert? I know I know and I'm thinking it's Chopin but I'm not positive. It's driving me crazy.

No surprises so far, although it was rude (funny but rude) to call the Karaoke singer a karaoke singer.

Guess there's no better, nicer way to give anybody the boot tonite. I still feel bad for the four booted out so far...

The Karaoke singer was devastated. He'd better get a wild card chance.

How is Clint not in the top 10. That's just nuts. He's one of best singers in the competition, period.

It's a popularity contest, too, and he did himself no favors in Hollywood week.

Do they still do theme weeks on Idol? Just can't imagine that guy singing anything but country songs. He has a nice low voice but singing the same song over and over is going to get old quick ( I'm already bored ;) ).

According to pre-show press, they'll be able to stay in their genres throughout the finals. They may do a 80s week, but rockers can do rock and country can do country. There will be no more disco week or Barry Manilow week thank god.

I think they are going to let them pick any style from certain years or decades this time, but that could change. I expect he'll sing country just different ones. I'd love to hear him do Garth Brooks.

So Karen is in. Probably instead of Haley.

Casey and Jacob. No surprises there.
