I want Hollie's dress. And I like her version of River Deep, Mountain High.
See, I don't know, I adore Hollie, but I thought it fell a bit flat this time... Apparently I was wrong?
Are you going to add a poll, PL?
Sorry, I want the dress. We may have to fight for it. You can have the shoes though. Now that I think of it, the dress will be really short on me at 5'7". Oh well.
I'm not poll-proficient...
Wheee! Girl fight!
Not loving Philip. I don't even recognize the song. Is it "The Letter"?
Phillip Phillips singing "The Letter" by The Box Tops or Joe Cocker or Dionne Warwick or whoever the f***.
Pretty good, for him, I thought. JLo saying she doesn't know the song. Really?
Also says it lacked melody. Is she new here?
Who did this recently on AI? It was much better. I just can't recall who it was.
I hate Jennifer's stoopid laugh.
Skylar up with "Fortunate Son" by CCR. Judges talked her into changing from "Knock on Wood." I thought she sounded good on her first song, but it's been done way too many times on shows like this. I can't remember anyone doing "Fortunate Son."
Skylar doing "Fortunate Son" except it sounds like she changed it to "Fortunate One."
This song, if people really listen to the lyrics, isn't exactly all "GO AMERICA!" that is Skylar's target audience.
That said, I'm really enjoying her performance.
The Letter? Lee DeWyze but also Carly Smithson and Michael Johns duet.
Skylar is all wrong on Fortunate Son. She obviously has not a freaking clue what it's about. Not a happy bouncy song, the lyrics are so full of anger and bitterness that I hate hate hate her right now.
Carly and Michael was the one I was remembering. That was all kinds of awesome.
Josh and Phil dueting to "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers. Should be cute and entertaining and a hot mess.
Is Phillip in on a joke that the rest of us aren't, or is he just high?
This pairing is sorta kinda working in and odd way.
Phillip and Joshua?
My ears are bleeding. This is one of my favorite sixties songs. I'm ironing while watching AI and had to leave the room, I hope nothing burns.
Jessica doing "Proud Mary." Is this 60's night, or are we just playing Six Degrees of Fogerty?
Jessica singing Proud Mary well. But, meh.
eta: Jennifer was a fan of Elise my ass.
It was good, but yeah, it's been done just like that many times. For people who find her generally annoying, I doubt that did anything to change their minds.
Randy agrees with us.
i hate it when j lo speaks
To me it was like Jessica was singing a phonetic translation. Zero understanding of the song, and another one way way too mature for her.
Joshua doing "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" by The Temptations.
Steven Tyler.. STFU, top two ever?! Kelly Clarkson? Carrie Underwood? Pia Toscano? Not a chance...
I'm dying here. The music of my youth is being raped and pillaged.
Randy compares Joshua to Terrance Trent Darby. Um, no.
However, I did almost enjoy that from Joshua. I think they want him to win. Steven dubs him one of the "top two Idols of all time." Um, no.
Oh man, I would love to see Vikings perform on here.
To be fair, I don't think he meant that they were similarly vocally, but that both give a modern spin to classic R&B. That's sort of true...
I just get excited when anyone mentions Terrence Trent D'Arby. Talk about an underappreciated artist.
I hope the judges are on something because if this is them without any chemical assistance...
Hollie's 2nd number "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis. A slowed down version that I like better than the original.
Steven says he doesn't know the song. Apparently this crew thinks it's cool not to know songs that everybody else on the planet knows.
i wonder why this season they are selling each wks's songs in album format only. i have to think their sales are down.
And now we move on to British Songs.
Hollie takes on Bleeding Love. It's okay, I guess. Kind of a let down after her first song.
Don't understand the Joshua dislike on here AT ALL! That was phenomenal. The first time I heard Joshua on this show, I thougt he should be in the finale ... and he certainly has done nothing tonight but make me even more certain of it.
First round for me:
Skylar/Jessica (pretty much tied for me)
On to Round 2 ....
everytime hollie does a good job, j lo fires an illegal domestic
of the 60's songs, I enjoyed Hollie's best. Jessica had no business doing Proud Mary - she is not old enough to carry it off. Phillip's version of The Letter was awful, Skylar was bouncy and enthusiastic - best I can say because she really didn't understand the song, Joshua was ok.
Randy is suddenly Hollie's biggest fan, and Jennifer makes a pathetic attempt at jumping on the bandwagon beside him.
I really hope that Hollie stays this week. She has completely hit her stride the past few weeks.
was that Matt Bomer in the audience?
Phillip Phillips: "Time of the Season" by The Zombies.
I didn't know it either. I'm ashamed, I know a LOT of songs.
I really liked it, and I liked the way Hollie sang it.
Phillip doing a good job on this song. And it's one of my faves, so that's saying something.
