    A few unimportant news BTW.

Surya Bonaly participated to La Ferme Célébrités, the french version of the swedish show The Farm. It was set in South Africa. She didn't won but was among the last four finalists. She did well. The show wasn't a huge success though (hopefully real TV is fading away slowly) but TF1 is by far the first french channel so their criterias are high as far as TV audience goes.
She was in Cannes for the festival lately.

Gwendal Peizerat participated to Koh Lanta, the french version of Survivor, among an athletes' team (vs ex-"survivors"). He was the 4th eliminated participant. In the regional elections in March, he was elected on the list of the parti socialiste in Rhones-Alpes, the region of Lyon.

And Candeloro wants to learn acting for his "next career" as he won't be skating much anymore (he has hosted TV games and several little TV shows ; he's learning as he says). He also wants to stage a musical on ice in France, a big one, in 2 or 3 years.

Speaking of Candeloro and Bonaly, apparently the municipality wants to shut down the rink at Colombes and lease or sell it to a bowling club.

Colombes has been the club of Candeloro, Bonaly and of Moniotte&Lavanchy. Apparently it is not an elite national training center any more, but it is an active club, teaching young children.

On the French Federation's website there is a banner asking people to sign a petition to support the club, but they have not put up the text of the petition and you cannot access it by clicking on the banner. There are two petitions on this subject circulating on the internet, one of them initiated by the minister of sports. I don't know if the FFSG's is one of these or a separate one.

I think D/D used the original version for their SP last season.

Shouldn't Il Divo be involved, too? :scream:

That was a tough call, but Brightman sounds shriller under most arena sound systems.

Was it ever officially confirmed that Olga Orlova/Matthieu Jost have split? The following was posted in the Khokhlova/Novitski thread today re. Orlova/Jost splitting:

:) Yes, I know there is a successful ballet team in Colombe (though I thought it was junior), but I was trying to keep to the point rather than raise questions about what ballet means as a competitive discipline. ;)

Is it true then that the club may be closed? How real is the danger?

    It is very real.

A lot of rinks built in the 70s need some heavy work and the municipalities who own them don't want to put their money in a costly facility which struggles for its financial balance. Nowadays, cities who are building rinks put them in the middle of a leisure complex or a leisure zone. Anyway the mayor has a proposal to transform the rink into a bowling.

There is an petition, a facebook group, Candeloro has met the mayor, there has been a protest. Rama Yade came into the mix to criticize the mayor. But if she's the Secretary of State for Sports, she's also a member of the opposition in the city council of Colombes ( :saint: ).

A deputy mayor has said that the decision (the mayor should take a decision in June) wouldn't be applied next September but in September 2011 but that's still to be confirmed.
The mayor still envisions the replacement of the rink by a bowling, with the potential addition of an artificial rink. Nothing to calm down the worries.

The french fed is annoyed not only because that has been an important rink in the development of figure skating in France but also because it's in Colombes that they have organized their development program. It represents 4 to 9 days a month that they are using to monitor and develop skaters.

The news was posted in Pirouette magazine's May edition. They said they expected more from this partnership and it didn't work out the way they had planned.

The president of my club told me two weeks ago : 20 % of chance to stay opened ! It's not big !
And yes, this is a junior ballet. But not young people who will become champions. ;)

No Requiem but here's Semenovich/Kostomarov skating to an R&B remix of Mahler + Adagio.

I think Linichuk choreographed this program. That's V/M's FD music at the beginning, no?

:D Yes I love that FD. It's cheesetastic, but in a good way. BTW, here's a smoother version of it.

I always thought that S&K were a better stylistic match then him with Navka. I always found N&K to be like some guy skating with his hot aunt.

Well, I thought it would have already popped up in here...

an article of La NR indicates that Brian LP will be choreographed by David Wilson. Other than that, no fresh news, and still no coach.

How scary to read all those quotes from Raymonde. "We have not decided yet". She keeps using the word "we".

I am just saying that when the pairing will be a done deal, the FFSG will surely glose about it in a press release. They've been the champions of those these past years. Only tell if it's positive, otherwise, shut your mouth !
