I'm SO excited about SLC!! Now that all the worry about their programs/music is over (I was at Thornhill for both, and I could not possibly love them more than I do), it will be really nice to see them competing in god health again. Does anyone know if there will be a live stream of this somewhere? Perhaps on icenetwork?

I'm curious about a live stream as well. Hopefully we can watch.

:D SLC is finally here!! Icenetwork is streaming live, but I don't have access to that, so I'm praying for reports and anything the Youtube gods can offer up.

Surprisingly enough, they were. Particularly than G&P. But I thought K/L-S were just lovely (granted slower than C&B, but still...)

Chock's costume was one of the worst ever though.

I was actually one of the few who liked C/B from the start, so I wasn't surprised to see them ahead.

Glad to see that the international judges aren't viewing G/P through the same rose-cologured glasses that the Canadian ones seem to, though I suspect they were still overmarked here (just having seen their skating quality side by side P/I's a few weeks back, I find it hard to believe that a shaky performance would put them that close to P/I). At least it looks like P/I are gonna be in the running for that worlds spot. :D

 Why am I not surprised? At least the gap isn't insurmountable.

The PCS marks in the free skate between P and I and G and P were very close overall.

:D I know <3 And with a great score, too. I'm really happy for them. I still can't warp my head around G/P's FD scoring higher than P/I's, but hey, at least the scores were in the same ball park this time. There is hope for worlds yet! And what a great thing for P/I to perform so well here. I think this will really boost their confidence going into the next event. I can't wait to see videos/pics from the event.

Yes, congrats from me too. I hope they can improve enough to beat G/P in the future.

Hey all, just to let you know, the link I posted yesterday with SD pics has been updated to include pics of P/I from two practice sessions and today's FD.

What happened to Evan? I know C/B scored low in FD. Did Evan fall?

2 times apparently - or stumbled anyhow.

Evan had two significant stumbles at the end of the program; one at the end of a step sequence and the other at the end of a lift. He didn't fall but they were very noticeable.

The only deduction for C/B was "Extended Lift: -1.00", and while the last two elements got - GOE, they didn't get -3's across the board. (In fact, one judge gave them 0 on the diagonal step sequence.)

    Happy Birthday to her!

I am sure this has been discussed before in other threads, but since it looks that these two teams will be rivaling each other this year and next- will Piper be a Canadian Citizen in time for the 2014 games?

i don't know where to post my question... i'll try here. I'd like to understand how the Polka works.. I used the Thornhill video of P/I's beautiful SD and the detailed score from Salt Lake comp. It says:

Yankee Polka 1st Sec Yankee Polka 1st Sec 4 + kpYYY
Yankee Polka 2nd Sec Yankee Polka 2nd Sec 2 + kpNNY

What I would like to know is, where does the 2section start? i can't quite figure. it looks like one sequence only to me.

Happy Birthday Alexandra Paul!! :D I guess their performances at SLC made a great birthday present.

I suppose Piper can have her citizenship fast tracked. Getting citizenship is normally a very long process here in Canada, but if there are extenuating circumstances (like an athlete trying to become eligable for the Olympics), they can often appeal, and find a way to speed up the process. I know this was done for Kaitlyn Weaver before the 2010 games. Though she and Poje, didn't end up making it, Kaitlyn was eligable. That being said, the timeline between now and Sochi is much tighter, although one would expect that they have already started with the proceedings. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Piper's mother will be a citizen soon so she will be fast tracked under a different process.

You can find the Yankee Polka chart on page five here. The first section is from step 1 to 25, the second from step 26 to 52.
This video can help you recognising the steps.
