    Reviving this thread...

Alex posted a journal entry on his official site last November that explained his decision to take off the 2013-14 competitive season due to his ankle surgery and longer-than-expected recovery: http://www.figureskatersonline.com/alexanderjohnson/journal.html

This weekend he will return to his home state of Minnesota to perform in the Coon Rapids (north of Minneapolis) ice show, April 25-27 - show info at: http://www.coonrapidsicecenter.com/iceshow.htm

ETA that Johnson competed in the Pre-Bronze Dance event at Adult Nationals earlier this month (he and his partner placed 1st of 2 teams).

I wish Alexander could become National Champion! His talent is undeniable and his skating quality is very much like Abbott and Savoie. I wish him all the best luck in his recovery and hope we get to see him compete again soon! :) :cheer2:

I think Alex Johnson is a good friend of Piper Gilles. I think they grew up together from what I can tell from their posts and photos on Twitter.

Yes! I completely agree :cheer:. Would love to see him as the National Champion and I agree that he reminds me a lot of Matt Savoie and Jeremy!

Alex was great tonight! He did a modified version of his short program and then another Beatles number. If you can make it down to the Coon Rapids Ice Center Saturday (4/26) at 6:30 p.m. or Sunday (4/27) at 2:00 p.m., it is well worth the $7 price of admission. :)

Alex wrote about competing in his first full competition in over a year - he placed 2nd (182.91) at the Broadmoor Open club competition last weekend: http://www.figureskatersonline.com/alexanderjohnson/journal.html

Absolutely, this is a skater I want to see more of. Is it feasible for him to get competitions on the Senior B circuit this season, even though he's been out of action awhile?

Yes, it's feasible because Johnson was added to USFS' International Selection Pool after the Broadmoor Open. Up next for him is Skate Detroit later this month.

    UPDATE 6 months later...

August 2014 article titled "Johnson rebounds from ankle surgery": http://www.goldenskate.com/2014/08/alexander-johnson/

Alex competed at Nebelhorn Trophy (6th) and Skate Canada Autumn Classic (8th) this past fall and set new ISU personal best scores:
193.06 (Total) Skate Canada Autumn Classic 2014
    69.20 (SP) Nebelhorn Trophy 2014
126.07 (FS) Skate Canada Autumn Classic 2014

I found Alex's Midwestern Sectionals programs (Nov. 2014) where he finished 2nd (212.36):

    FS to Sondheim's Sweeney Todd (140.92): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2S_RRjTHcvU
    SP to Rachmaninoff's Trio élégiaque No. 2 (71.44): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asNhk664_Ag
