Oh please, you won't be as well remembered for your banner as mine.
I am so angry. I just got word that my "Keeper of Tonya Harding's Spiral" banner has been ruled illegal. I will have to petition the USFSA.
I will just sit back and take great comfort in my banner's gold medal. It was traced far better than your banner!
They often do this in football (soccer). Manchester United fans still sing songs during matches and/or have banners about players who played for them years ago! Even for players who didn't stay that long but had one truly memorable game, e.g. scoring against a big rival. It's because they still admire/love those players even though they aren't there any more. I think it's great
Re: the Plushy ones - his fans might have been trying to make a point
My banner will be prettier and and have greater audience appeal than your banner.
I would help you on that! Dude can SKATE.
Surely we can all agree on the necessity of a Jackson Haines tapestry?
Now he just has to come down under so I can hang it somewhere
David Jenkins banner in the works. It will be the only banner with better edges than Patrick Chan's at next years Worlds men's event.
Are you going to use blanket stitch for the edges? Or take the easy way out and just use an overlocker?
My banner will not hide itself away after a few years, to raise little banners in relative obscurity.
Daily patches of blanket stitching in the wee hours of the cold morning for years on end.
Great ideas, everyone! Wouldn't it be a hoot if a bunch of us showed up at Skate America with historical banners? Speaking of "hoot," I'll be sure to include a RUSTY HOOT in my Dick Button banner.
Can I make a FUTURE banner? How about one that says "MICHELLE KWAN'S FUTURE CHILD, OLYMPIC CHAMPION!!!! XOXOXOX"
I'm willing to bet it was all those oldies' banners that convinced them to do a new Pro/Am. JS.
I would make one for Alexis Winston , too.
I want a Tonya Harding banner.
With a big spanner and lots of very offensive slogans.
Lambiel's banners should stay until a better skater comes up.
There won't be anyone else like him. He's a one off.
With the quote "We forgot about the flowers". And it would have to have Robby Benson eyebrows on it.
So true!! Well done MADGE SYERS!!! You ROCKED!!
I'd have to hang one for her, one for Janet Lynn, and for sentimental reasons one for '61 U.S. Worlds Team.
ETA: I must add another one saying Alois Lutz for the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame!
For inventing the biggest beyotch of a jump!
Does this mean I need to stop work on my patchwork quilt banner starring Rahkamo/Kokko, Drobiazko/Vanagas, Maria Bute and Olga Markova?!
Definitely the flowers!
I could do a Jill Trenery banner. I'd just have to pad out the shoulders.
And style the hair into that very 80's style.
Actually with the Lexi Winston banner, it would be "Watch out for the flowers!!!"
Perhaps the old banners are just a sign of the times, not enough money to make new ones. The people who bring them do it just to try and get their face on the TV broadcast, as they had in the past with contemporary banners.
Anyone what to make one for either Gillis Grafström or Karl Schäfer. Thought we needed more ancient men to match Madge.
Someone should make a "defunct ice dance/pairs teams" banner. We've certainly had enough splits this year to make a HUGE one.
Good question - I have been wondering too.
The banners are very nice, but almost too professional/perfect. Though they do not look as nice, I do sort of miss the 'homemade' banners.
What about Chazz Michael Michaels!
She wouldn't be able to read it...
I'm actually looking forward to see if you guys are actually going to go forward with this
I'd love to.
