One of my favorite Mao spins is where she holds her free leg up and it looks like a Y-spin but she's extended it so far up that it looks like an I position...is it still technically a Y-spin? lol

Can I also ask if the I-spin is worth more points than the Y-spin? I feel like the latter is more aesthetically appealing and graceful while the I-spin to me looks so clunky and unnatural..but so many skaters seem to go for the I-spin as if to prove their superior flexibility..but if done like mao's where it's so far extended it's just as impressive imo.

I'm not sure skaters want to prove their superior flexibility. More likely, they just want to make sure they demonstrate enough flexibility to get credited with an additional feature for the level of the spin -and I would think for most it's easier to do that in an I spin than a Y-spin. Mao does the side split in her Y very well, though.
