I always really end up enjoying performances at this competition, I'm interested in seeing what kind of material the field puts out there this year.

I'm actually counting down the hours in anticipation, I sure hope that Lipnitskaya girl is flexible and we see a program that has people singing in it. :sheep:

As they already have Mura and Kanako in the llist, I'm afraid there is little possibility of her being there. Three POTO among 12 programs would be too much. Yuzuru might have been very smart to escape from this event and choose to go to Finlandia although with Mao and Daisuke not competing, the organizer really wanted him to participate.

Since Japan Open has invited two Russian ladies to compete at their event, I suspect the other European man can't be a Russian skater as well because it would all look like Team Russia + Fernandez, wouldn't it? The same if they invited Rochette to join Team North America, wouldn't it rather be Team Canada +Ashley Wagner? lol

I wonder if Polina Edmunds could be a serious option in case they invited Gracie and she declined.

Disappointed that Mao isn't doing JO and why do they never invite Hanyu?

Interesting that Daisuke is not doing either Japan Open or Carnival on Ice.

Daisuke is skipping competitions this year. He needs time to heal his knee. About Carnival on Ice, he might be invited later.

One of the reason that he never participated in the past might be that other skaters were preferred over him for sponsor and agency reasons (Daisuke having a sure spot as he's the only skater belonging to Kinoshita Group, and Kozuka to IMG). I also had the impression that Hanyu was never that keen on it, preferring Senior Bs instead - and maybe I was proven right by the fact that he's not participating this year as well. I'm sure that this time, at least, they must have tried pretty hard to have him.

You're right, KansaiPJ. Tickets are separated for these two events.

I have some unforgettable memories in JO/CaOI. Mao made a debut of Bells of Moscow in Japan Open 2009. I saw her skate without confidence in her jumps live. She was always there when the time was good and bad... Carnival on Ice 2012 had great cast: Yagdin, Plushenko, Kulik, Candeloro, Browning, Buttle, Chan, Daisuke, Mao, Akiko, Joannie, Shizuka, Slutskaya, Meier, Takahashi/Tran and more. That was one of the greatest shows I've ever seen live. :swoon: This year the venue is Saitama Super Arena where last season's Worlds and Japan Nats were held. The venue has about 18.000 seats. Audience have good view in any area, but skaters can be seen as small as an egg-bean size if you sit around the highest level area. I assume they cannot sell all the 18,000 tickets per a event since they don't have either of Mao, Daisuke or Yuzuru this time. That said I'm pretty jealous with people who can see the debut of this season's competitive programs of top skaters like Lipnitsukaya and Radionova live at the rink. (I haven't seen any shows/competitions at the rink for about two years for personal reasons.:fragile:)

Yay for Mirai! I think she and Ashley will put up a good fight but it's going to be tough for them to get past Julia and Elena. But, it's always good to get your programs out early so that's a plus for both of them.

The organizer announced as of today that 10 pairs(20 people in total) will be invited to a meet & greet after Japan Open. (I think you go to see both of JO and CaOI, right?)

    More info:
The meet & greet will be held after JO finished. The organizer will hold a draw and the winners will be announced during JO.
    Skaters scheduled to the M&G:
Jeff Buttle, Patrick Chan, Ashley Wagner, Javier Fernandez, Davis/White
