Too bad from me too. Such is life.
Has anyone watched the AMC series Torn?
I don't get HBO so figured I'd have to watch some crappy low-res porn-ad-supported site to get John Oliver's new show ... but cudos to HBO for making it available on YouTube!
Last Week Tonight - 1st episode
A pretty good start, I'd say.
A&E Orders Ten Episodes of Drama 'The Returned': http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/20...-from-executive-producer-carlton-cuse/258821/
This is a remake of the French version of "Les Revenants". It was shown on the Sundance Channel last fall as "The Returned". It was also on Netflix recently.
I thought ABC's "Resurrection" was "sort of" a remake.?
Remember, for those interested, that the new season of "24" starts on Monday.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D renewed --
I know it's far from perfect, and normally super-sekret-society within super-sekret-society plot devices drive me wingy ... but I just have a great deal of affection for this show. And it's not just because of my obsession with Clark Gregg ...
It also takes some of the sting out of the cancellation of Almost Human
They just cancelled "Community".
I gave up on SHEILD. There was just too much that annoyed me.
Revolution has been cancelled. I love that show so much!
I love Revolution too! Its kinda silly sometimes with the story telling, but I like the characters. I wish it could get one more season so they could delve into just really trying to get the power back on across the world or something and end the story with the electric coming back on. I haven't watched this weeks episode yet so I don't know where the story is right now, but if there's only one episode left, and filmed before they knew they were cancelled, we'll likely have an unfinished cliffhanger. I hate that. And I like how its 15+ years later, there have apparently been lots of battles between the different factions (i.e., wars and gun battles), yet they all still got bullets comin' outta their azz; how they still got all those bullets after 15+ years of fighting and no means to make more? And they can just like walk from Texas to Nevada and stumble across all these people looking for each other so easily and stuff like that.
"The Mentalist" renewed:
Well bullets do pre-date electricity - but I kind of miss the bow & arrow stuff they started with.... Also not happy with the cancellation - I was enjoying this show still but perhaps it would have just become too repetitive and ended up in dissapointment ( Like LOST did for me) Now I can imagine my own "ending".
Anyone watching Penny Dreadful? So far, I'm loving it. And Eva Green is always great
I caught the first episode early; Showtime put it up a week in advance on demand. I do like it very much, but I think it is too darkly lighted/filmed; my aging ears could hear the dialogue fine, but my aging eyes couldn't see what was going on in half the scenes because of the darkness. There must be a way to get the dark subject matter across without being so literal about it.
I really liked the first episode of "Penny Dreadful" too.
Agree the lighting is dark.
Fall TV 2014: The Full Schedule

ABC and NBC (again) completely cleaning up shop with several cancellations of sitcoms is probably no surprise.
The interesting decision was cancelling "Growing Up Fisher" but keeping "About A Boy". I bet the time slot of both shows factored greatly on performance (AAB at 9:00 pm, GUF at 9:30 pm) and the ultimate decision on renewal.
There are only three new shows coming this fall that I am interested in and they are; Constantine, Gotham, And Flash.
I thought that was interesting too -- but I'm also not surprised. About a Boy has, IMO, continued to develop its themes, whereas Growing Up Fisher, while still better than most of the so-called comedies on TV, hasn't really grown a lot since the initial premise.
Me too!!! I check out anything dealing in Sci-Fi/Fantasy.
I couldnt find Grimm on that list - has it been cancelled or did I just miss it?
Friday night at 9
Boo, I can't believe Mixology is over. Tom and Maya getting their happy ending made me happy.
I am currently addicted to NBC musical specials. LOVED Coldplay's concert and having fun with The Maya Rudolph Show.
I finally caught up with the season ender of About a Boy last night -- and I'm not ashamed to say that I got pretty teary-eyed. I wasn't sure how they'd sustain the concept, but so far they've done a great job. Definitely looking forward to the return of this in the fall.
(and as a uke player myself, I also laughed pretty hard at Fiona's "shredding" )
