I've officially reached my quota for the decade for Mary Poppins programs.

I'm pretty sure my Mom had the same exact dress as Mao; however, she wore it in 1946, when she was 5 years old .

    ********

    Introduction of Team USA.

Really, guys? New York, New York.....seriously?

[Chandler Bing]Could y'all *BE* any more unoriginal? :blah:.[/Chandler Bing]

Compared to Team Japan's intro, Team USA's choreography looks like a disorganized, hot-ass mess

    ********

What's up next? If this doesn't pick up, I'm going to go and watch Katt William's Pimp Chronicles on Comedy Central.

....Erm, didn't they play this already when Team Japan came out? Or are they about to Zamboni the ice? Totally confused .

Not a horrible group number from Team USA. I liked the spins to end. :)

I'm not going to make it through the intermission. So good night all (or the 2 or 3 people watching  ).

Damn, you beat me to it -- I've been up for almost 50 hours straight and was about to sign off, crawl in the bed, and crash while watching TV.

Who's skating now & why don't they rate close camera shots?

OK, one looks like a mascot dressed as a panda?

Was that Celine singing? It sounded more like Belgian singer Lara Fabian to me.

    EDIT: And we're back w/Cinquanta....

Gracie skated very nicely to Alicia Keys...This Girl Is On Fire.

Dennis Ten certainly doesn't disappoint. A very passionate skate from him. Bravo.

    YES!!!
I was thinking- is anybody else watching?
It was a stunner of an EX from Denis. Quite Lambiel- esque in intensity, fluidity and beauty. Just Wow.

That pair had a rocky skate, too.

Ashley skated well...showing her own bad self to a remix of "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics.

And Josh Groban returns (in spirit) to sing for Denis Ten. (sang earlier for Reed & Reed).

EDIT: A lovely skate by Chock & Bates...& they get an encore.:encore:

Isn't this our second Parapluies de Chambourg of the night?

Whenever I hear this music, the skater that immediately comes to mind is Divakawa and her SP from '03-'04.

Akiko :swoon: She can skate to anything and make it her own. So happy it all came together for her at WTT.

Quite inventive from V/T... may it carry over to next year:)
Gorgeous death spiral variation in the LP bit.
And they are beautiful. Beautiful costumes, too.

Did Gracie skate tonight (and I missed it)? Or did she opt out for some reason?

    *****

Oh Dai. I love ya more'n my luggage, but for the love of god, did you *really* have to choose a Tango for your exhitbition? :wall: :scream:.

Dai is such a generous performer. He lets us all in on his emotions and skates with such passion and enjoyment. Love him.

Gracie skated at the top of part 2.

    I like that Russian pair...never saw them before...huge throw...inventive lifts...impressive!

In the name of everything that is holy, Daisuke, please go back to that edgy, experimental style of yours. Do not settle next year for watered- down hand- wringing. THIS is incredibly good.

They are the World Champs this year. They used to be parts of 2 different pairs, and have been together for only 3 years.

Wheeeee! That's what I call a finale. Loved dueling Dennis and Daisuke. Loved the big rush of ladies and the men spinning their brains out. Lucky Japanese fans to be there for this gala. :cheer2: So glad that the ISU broadcast it for everyone.

Well, thanks to Megan D. and Eric R., I purchased the Artists Against Bullying cover of Cyndi Lauper's True Colors .

The original was a huge hit when I was in HS, but I was never a fan of that song as it was way too mainstream for my taste :drama:.

That dislike blossomed into a burning hatred when Atlanta's gagtrocious Adult "Lite" Rock (aka Faux and/or Shitty Poseur Rawk) station put it on heavy rotation - and kept it there -- for FIF-TEEN FCUKIN' YEARS :scream: :yikes:.

I'm not sure which song irritates me more -- True Colors by Cyndi Lauper, or Africa by Toto :scream:.

I don't think Max wanted it to be over...he was meeting & greeting the fans by the boards until the last second. :D

What a great Gala! All of the skaters were just wonderful! Sometimes Galas can be quite boring with phoned in performances by the skaters,
but not here. Every single skater put their heart and soul into their performance. Loved it!

Max/Tat oozed sexy charm and then came Dai. I needed a cigarette after those two performances (and I don't smoke).

Catching up with the Gala today. Max's smile was so bright! He looked so happy to be there.

I thought the US team number was much cuter and more fun than the Japan team number.

I enjoyed both the Japanese and US team number; but, most of all, I loved how supportive the audience was of everyone and every team there.

Oh, and I also loved when Chris Reed swung Mao around--that was cute to watch! :)
