Who would of thought that the creepiest character wouldn't be the apparent murderer, but Junior, the creepy, kidnapping teen? :scream:

There certainly are a lot of hinted-at mysteries, conspiracies, deceits and conflicts...should make for a fun summer of revelations. :watch:

EDIT: You mentioned actors from LOST...the sheriff was the helicopter pilot on LOST, right?

I liked it, but I could have done without the cow bisection.

How many episodes is the series supposed to have?

I believe CBS is repeating the pilot on SUNDAY, 06/30.

13 episodes; if it does well, they will get a second season...will have to go beyond the actual book for plots/stories.

I am kind of upset that Under the Dome might get a 2nd season. I really liked Peter's suggestion that it might just be one season since it is based on a book and it has a definitive end. Drawing something like this out for years is not going to work. Maybe they can stretch it to 2 years without ruining anything.

Oh, did anyone see the preview for the show Hostages? It looks incredible and stars Toni Colette, whom I love. She plays a doctor/surgeon who is in charge of taking care of the President. He is going to need surgery and she will do it. Some people (including the other lead, Dylan McDermott) break into her home and take her family hostage. They tell her she will make sure the President dies on the operating table or they will kill her family. Seems really really interesting. I am very curious to see how they handle the plot, do they spend the entire first season leading up to the surgery or is that tackled early on and we see the ramifications of whatever decision she makes?

You had me at Toni Colette, but Dylan McDermott is very nice gravy.

Is that a fall show? No info other than "2013" at imdb.

I agree, though, that it's hard to imagine how they'll sustain that plotline, but then I've been surprised before.

Finally caught up with Under the Dome last night. Hmm. Some good moments, but I'm not sold yet. Mostly I'm disappointed at the characterization -- one of King's strengths is his ability to create a fully-developed character in just a few paragraphs, which is the reason I like his writing when I won't touch other writers of the same subject matter. That has not translated well to TV at all, and I found many of the characters to be very two-dimensional. That will probably change as the series develops, of course, but I found the first episode somewhat lacking. But I'll keep going for another couple of episodes at least, esp. since there isn't anything else on.

I thought about watching "Under the Dome", but then realized that The Simpson's Movie had the same plot. Now I can't watch it without thinking of Marge Simpson embroidering "Dome Sweet Dome".

That is EXACTLY how I feel! When the ad first came up my sister and I were like, "so did someone watch The Simpson's Movie and decided that sounded like a great idea?..."

They are making changes so I'm not sure if the book ending will stay. I am personally hoping that a character with the initials RF shows up in the show and is the cause :EVILLE:

I have been reading up on the original story and the tv show from episode one seems to have some significant changes from the novel.
