"Drunk History" premieres tonight (7/09/2013) @ 10:00PM on Comedy Central. Looks interesting.
Really?!? I seriously thought the scene between Big Jim and Junior with the milk was the final scene of the ep Sorry!
I think the outside world is maybe more freaked than those under the dome. I'm sure the U.S. government and military are freaked out, because if this unexplained thing can happen, who's next? Everything is completely out of everyone's control. So I'm sure the government and military have put up blockades all around the dome. Any civilians who want to get close cannot. So no communication there. Only the military could communicate and I'm sure all the military people have been told not to do so unless ordered. Only those higher up would be allowed to communicate and they would only do so if it served their purposes. And there's nothing that anyone can do anyway, so why communicate information that neither side can help the other with? That said, a few scenes with government and military officials about this would have filled in those blanks. BUT...the story is about those under the dome and how they have been isolated. Communication with the outside world would take away the dramatic isolation of the events/story.
I took out all the stuff from your post that happened in the first half. And left in what you wrote happpened after the weather alert came on, which meant I didn't miss much!!! Sorry from me for not making that clear!!!!
I was wondering how long these people were going to be under the dome (it's only been like 2 days so far?) and looked up the synopsis of the book. I hope the rest of the t.v. series is more interesting than what the book synopsis says.
The only things I can think of that genevieve left out are:
Kidnapped girl managed to steal a pair of scissors when Junior brought a first aid kit into the bunker so that kidnapped girl could tend to his wounded knuckles (the result of banging on the dome).
Journalist did some snooping in Barbie's backpack. She found a map of the town, I think, but I am not sure why it is so important. I guess because it indicates that he wasn't just passing through town, but was there for a reason? So she knows that he is hiding something?
Every word you just said is exactly what I have been thinking! Why not set up a point of contact exactly like you said with inside writing messages and outside can either write, use screens, or whatever. Why isn't inside taking a roll call or documenting everyone inside. Let the outside know that that water was seeping thru when the kids found the dog. All those things are driving me nuts too.

I just finished binge watching Orphan Black. It's only ten episodes, but it was one of the best series I've watched this year. There is quite a swell of speculation that Tatiana Maslany might get an Emmy nod for her performance. And Felix might be my favourite supporting character ever. I listened to the TV critics on EW radio gushing about the show, so I started watching it and was hooked in the first five minutes.
I marvel at how they manage to so seamlessly fit all the clones of Sarah on the screen, and make you forget it is one actress.
I really enjoyed Orphan Black too. And I definitely agree with your spoiler - nice camera work, special effects, however it was done.
I'm waiting impatiently for one of my libraries to pick up Orphan Black on DVD ...
So I just watched Camp. I almost stopped after the first 10 minutes full of slapstick, stock characters, and outhouse humour. But I'm glad I kept watching, because it got a lot better after that. I could have done without some of the stereotypes (especially the poor camp / rich camp rivalry -- and really, we're supposed to believe two non-church-based family camps on the same lake?), but by the end I found myself caring about the characters and their situations. It was really very sweet and quite funny in places. A very nice change of pace from the usual summer offerings, and a nice little nostalgia hit for anyone who's had a good time at summer camp.
I read a couple of interviews that explained how it was done. E.g., http://www.vulture.com/2013/06/your-orphan-black-questions-answered.html
We’re basically using a piece of equipment called a techno-dolly. It’s a camera system that will exactly replicate the same movement over and over and over again. So you build the shot in layers. You’re asking your actors mostly to perform her actions using eye lines and an earpiece where she can hear what’s been recorded prior. It’s very technical and complicated, and it requires a lot of patience and time. Between building these layers, Tatiana’s got to go off for an hour, an hour and a half and change. You just shoot it a bunch. I’m so glad the fans noticed!
(Lots of plot spoilers in the questions and answers)
Even the very first scene of the show involved a situation that could have used that technique, but as I remember the camera angles used there it was probably done the old-fashioned way for the pilot.

Is anyone else watching "The Bridge" on FX? I was a little bit worried that the North American version wouldn't be as good as the original Danish series, but if the first show is any indication it's going to be excellent.

I watched the premiere last night on my DVR. I am really mixed about it. The idea that a person with Aspergers (I assume, it wasn't explicitly stated unless I missed it) would be a lead detective assigned to a high profile murder case is a little perplexing to me. She lacks the skills needed for the job. Her scene with the grieving husband was torture and should never have happened. She would be much better suited as a medical examiner or something (we actually had a scene of her doing just that). It is just a little hard for me to buy into but I am interested in what the widow lady found behind the locked door and what she or her husband has to do with all of this. So far their story has hardly been tied in but I know it will eventually.
I'm very much looking forward to this. Wayne, Ryan, Colin ... and no Drew!
I hope they incorporate the new improve game they used in Trust Us with Your Life last year -- where the do everything lying on the ground but the overhead camera makes it look like they're standing. I don't know why, but that one cracked me up every time I saw it.
Is anyone watching "Orange is the New Black" on Netflix? I've watched the first few episodes and I've found it quite enjoyable.
I'm on episode 7 right now. Love the mix of serious and humour, and the flashbacks of their pasts.
Me too. I'm on episode five. "Crazy Eyes" was hilarious; and the scenes between the trans woman and her wife was very touching.
Natasha Lyone's character is also great.

I am loving Orange is the New Black. I watched 3 or 4 episodes last night in a row and had to force myself to go to sleep at 4 am! I will be up again tonight glued to my laptop. I think Jason Biggs is miscast and weak but everyone else is really great. When I saw the trailer I thought the lead actress was Alicia Silverstone.
ITA. Piper's relationship with Alex is so much more interesting than her relationship with Larry. I think they have more chemistry, too.
Yep, LOVED Orphan Black. I watched it as it aired. For those catching up, I think it would be hard not to binge watch.

much better ep of Under the Dome tonight.
