Novice women were quite good, the top three all looked very young and had clean double axels and fully rotated triple loop or sal (but fell), Alison Schumacher the winner only looked about 10 so still has puberty to deal with, but very nice.. the girl from Hamilton Connely Hogarth (coached by Bryce) I was more impressed with, had lovely presentation.

I think Junior Men SP should be next? Juvenile Pattern Dance was the most recent completed event.

Denis Margalik, Graham Newberry (GBR), Jack Newberry (GBR), and Leslie Ip are a few to look out for.

    Conway/Sheriff-Clayton

20’s era jazz music, Dylan in a flapper-style mauve dress, Dustin in black pants, vest and white shirt

    2twist, not huge, but clean
Back inside death spiral, tidy, but nothing special
SBS 2A, she underrotated and fell
Good pair spin with Dylan in a Y position
    Throw 3toe, 2ft landing
Decent toe lasso lift, bit of trouble on the exit

Overall, a cute program. A portion of their step sequence was done in dance hold, which I like. Of all the junior teams I’ve seen, they seem to have the best connection. Dylan has grown a bit since last season, now only about 3 – 4 inches between them. But I’ve learned from Purdy/Marinaro never to write a team off because of lack of height difference, so we’ll see what the future holds for them.
    Score: 41.28

    Bobak/Penasse

Violin music, Katie in a gorgeous black dress with violet shading, Matt in a purple ruffled shirt, black vest, black pants

    2twist, very nice height
    SBS 2A, she fell
    Throw 3sal, step out
Nice back inside death spiral, with Katie in a Beilman position on the entrance
    Standard grab-the-blade lift
Pair spin a mess, looked like they forgot what position they were supposed to go into on the first change
    Score: 34.38

Some potential here, but still very much a work in progress. Striking team though, with a big height difference. Katie has grown into a very pretty young woman.

Daleman amazes me. She will go for the second triple no matter how off she is on the first one. She has the it factor too

Gabrielle Daleman's jumps look more secure than last season to me. For this time of the season, that was a very strong skate. Other than the hand down on the 3Lz, and a slight recentering of one spin, there isn't anything that needs obvious improvement that I can see - just continued finetuning.

That triple flip from Daleman was a beauty and I think the program works well for her too. I'm very impressed with the improvements she has made this season. Going for the triple-triple after the mistake on the first jump was gutsy, although it must have been downgraded.

    ETA:
    Alaine Chartrand currently 2nd 49.80 (3Lz fall no combo, 3Lo, 2A); Eri Nishimura 44.88 (3Lo+2T, 3S, 2A); Marika Steward 43.54 (3F+2T, 3Lo, 3A turnout).

IMO Eri Nishimura is skating with more speed than last season, and her jumps look bigger (a very good thing, in her case). Has she always been coached by Brian Orser?

Too bad about the lutz for Alaine Chartrand (although it was fully rotated), but her spins look considerably better than last season, at least to me. Her choreography is really unforgiving; if she gets behind at all it would be really noticeable. I think it's a step up from last season.

She fell on the combo and eeked out the flip. Only 43. Good to see her back though.
