Wouldn't surprise me at all. (Unless they're doing Scheherazade for their SD instead, which would be really interesting)

Yeah - I was just hoping to myself that it would be something else. Unless they're gonna try to steal Jennifer Swan from Tessa and Scott.

Scheherazade is perfectly D/W. A very smart strategical choice!

Well, that would suit them, unless they try to make it really balletic.

Scheherazade is close in musical and dramatic temperament to Samson et Delilah, my favorite of D/W's FD's. It's also has the historic association with my all-time favorite American ice dancers, Blumber/Seibert, who lost an Olympic bronze because of that choice of music. Hopefully for D/W it will mean redemption.

Yes, it would be quite the vindication for US ice dance if D/W were to win with this, if this rumor is true!

Agree will be excellent choice if true. Hope they choose some interesting costumes, I'm ready for bollywood style again, especially for Meryl.

So I guess I'll go watch their 2009 FD with Scheherazade playing alongside to see what the program is going to look like. :p

Yes, Add S&D/Bollywood/Phantom together and voila you will get Scherazade.

I agree. It's great music and NOT overused in ice dance at all. Bravo.

BTW , sometimes, i think that people like to lead bandwagons so they say "ohhh..i'm so disappointed" when music is revealed hoping everyone will jump on board. Davis and White have yet to let us down with the content of their programs or their interpretation. Why not just be positive and say " cant wait to see it"? Everyone is entitled to their opinion however...

I agree! The bejeweled two piece costumes are so flattering on Meryl.

This is exactly the sort of music I'd have expected D/W to pick. So I am neither disappointed nor surprised - just bored. Which is my usual reaction to them anyway ;)

Though I am holding on to the slim hope that maybe they will once again go with something relatively original for their non-FD Olympic program.

 Did you at least find the below iconic D/W OD somewhat relatively original and non-boring, or at least more than mere Kraft slices?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqVXdkHKOUs

As one of the Eurosport commentators said: "That was fantastic ... I never get tired of watching it... When a folk dance is done right, you can find yourself transported... On the slo-mo you can see just how intricate everything is ... to keep the balance [is] not easy, let alone unison as well..."

I hope their music cut uses the final part of Schez, that isn't heard enough in skating.

What would the Olympics be without Scheherazade? (I also hope this is just a rumor)

When was the last time Sheherazade was used by ice dancers? I am really interested in seeing some free dances with this music, preferably under 6.0.

I can't recall, but considering it was used by two of the current OGMs within the past five years, I'd hardly consider this an original choice. OTOH, I can't blame skaters for playing to their strengths in an Olympic year.

Well I am not thrilled about it, but it could have been worse choice.
I didn't loath Carmen, but I am sure sick of hearing it during ice dancing competition.

I'm having a bit of a chuckle at certain people hating on D/W (I assume they are V/M fans) for their choice of Sheherezade, and yet, what did V/M use last season...?

Actually, I have anothing against Shez as a music piece. Its just the choreo one fears. DW have been very repetitive in movement already. If you play a couple of their programs side by side you can easily pick this out. While I was one of those who was really upset that VM ( my favourites) chose Carmen I liked what they did with it. And no one can say it was same ole same ole.....

I like VM, but I did NOT like what they did with Carmen...I thought some of their moves and lifts were way too suggestive and borderline lewd. They made me quite uncomfortable.

My favorite dance they ever did was that Mahler piece at the Olympics...that was sublime! :saint:

^^^ All that is publicly known is that Virtue/Moir have spent some time in Montreal with Jean-Marc Généreux, a French Canadian ballroom dance champion and choreographer - he tweeted this photo with them on April 9: http://pic.twitter.com/8ooQZSoPUH

He most likely worked on their SD, since he has choreographed quickstep dances.

Actually there are a lot of people on 'FSUniverse' who are always disappointed with any skater using music that has already been used a lot, and many of them are neither V/M, nor D/W fans. But, of course, parapluies is a Tessa and Scott fan  :shuffle:.
